Was wondering if anyone knows of a pair of chest waders comfortable to hike in. I am looking to hunt/scout a piece of public land and want to get away from the crowd of course. Been looking at maps pretty hard and think I found an area that I can get away from the other hunters and trailcam steeling losers. But, it will require close to a mile hike, and a possible deep creek crossing and swamp crossing. Figured someone on here might have done a similar hike and would know a pair of waders that could handle the job. I know my fishing ones would have my feet killing me after the first half mile of non stop hiking. But they are older so maybe the ones they make these days are more comfortable. Thanks guys!

Get a good pair of stocking foot breathable waders from Simms, then couple them up with a pai of their wading boots ...you can get a pair with regular vibram soles.
New wading boots fit and feel like hiking boots.

We have to do a lot of this at the camp I hunt out of in the Adirondacks. Our lease is actually called the Thousand Acre Swamp. Nothing but beaver dams and swamps everywhere. We have all gone to a high quality pair of hiking boots and then a pair of packable Neos River Trekkers over the top for the wet parts.

What we found is that even the best waders aren't comfortable for miles of hiking and even if you just deal with it your going to destroy a lot of waders. I generally wear a Badlands Monster pack and can roll the Neos up and attach to the bottom of the pack for easy carrying.

I have hunted areas where I needed waders or hip boots to cross water.I never walk in them.I carry them with me and just change into them before I cross and change again after I cross and just leave them at the waters edge until I come back. You can easily carry waders over your shoulders and neck with the crotch on the back of your neck and feet laying on your chest. If you are using a climber just use a bungee cord to attach them to the stand.

The idea of not wearing them for the hike in is a good one. You will sweat a ton if you wear them the whole walk.

buy the cheapest pair of 3mm stocking foot waders... super light weight if you need to cross and toss across you shoulder... unless your crossing a creek, stream river or pond/swamp with sharp rocks or sticks the stocking foots will hold up surprisingly well... all ya need to do is take off the hikers ... slip on the stocking foot waders and walk thru ... IF you have a short walk thru water then a short walk to your stnd 5mm boot foot one size larger work best .. pack on an extra pair of socks and leave the waders on they will keep you warm ... been hunting in waders for 20+ years ... I've probably tried them all at one time or another ...
