Get out on Tuesday, educate yourself before hand, and vote. We're lucky enough to live in a country where we can. So take advantage of it. By the way, I know everyone has been waiting so long to hear this, I'm endorsing Mitt Romney.
Which LIARS are we supposed to vote for? I don't like voting for the lesser of 2 evils. I want to vote for someone I can trust and believe in. Sadly those sort of people don't make very good politicians. I might vote if I'm not in a tree stand.
Voting for the lesser of 2 evils is better than voting for a third party candidate and wasting a vote, and much better than not voting at all.
Goode/Clymer. IMO, a vote is supposed to be "for" someone. A wasted vote is one cast "for" anyone perceived as evil.
We don't have any viable two party candidates ! That being said, unless you are a childless, trust fund receiver, I can't imagine how in any way you could view this countries path as the correct direction to prosperity, security or piece of mind.
Of course if a third party would get involved early instead of waiting until October to actually try campaigning, they may be taken a little more seriously. Ross Perot for example... He didn't win of course, and likely got Clinton elected, but, at least, because he was involved in the process, was invited to the debates. And now as we know... many of his predictions were correct, such as that giant sucking sound (NAFTA) being jobs leaving the United States. Why can't we find a hero America believes in who is willing to run instead of hoping the same old, tired, lame, corrupt hooligans are going to get anything accomplished? I would love to see someone like Stormin Norman run, I would vote for him, no matter what party he was a member of.
Its not that simple. It will take years, and a number of Ross Perots in succession to create a legit third party. Oh, and lots of money. A third party isn't going to receive more than a quarter billion dollars in donations until they have a legit chance to win.
This. And this... I'm young. I'm guilty of the latter in the past. I just don't know if I can, in good conscience, vote for either. "Wasted" vote or not.
And they won't have a legit chance to win until they get the money... A sustainable cycle is hard to get going. Agreed. Until someone seen as legit (at some level) jumps off the party ship. It would take a near political superstar or someone like a Trump or Pickens to pull it off nationally. More than likely it has to start as a "grassroots" movement in an influential state. Maybe Texas, Florida, Ohio or perhaps Iowa come to mind. Texas may be too radical... I don't know, but they do have a strong influence on southern states.
You have to look at getting rid of the electoral college that would be the only way I see a third party taking over besides an all out government overthrow.
Like most, I'm not really in favor of voting for either main candidate. I read up on Gary Johnson, but I can't in good conscience, vote for someone I know very little about.
The over whelming number of Mexicans in Texas will prevent a third party grass movement from there unless it is a Hispanic, and I know none with enough name recognition to be viable.California is in the same fix. It will take a candidate from a state with enough electoral votes to swing an election and enough of their on cash to draw backers with even more cash for this boat to ever sail.
