So I'm now officially an old fart and my eyesight is going. This is the first hunting season I've had trouble seeing my pins. Bought a pair of Oakley Perscription M frames for rifle/pistol shooting and thought they would work with my bow. Well I can not even align my peep and pins with my shooting glasses on so I did something I did not want to do and purchased a peep sight with a corrective lens in it. I fear its going to build moisture, dirt or become obstructed in the field. Anyway, my sight picture is completely different than what I am used to. Pins crystal clear target blurrier than normal. I am shooting tight groups. Anyway, does anybody have experience with hunting with a corrective lens peep? Are their any variables or conditions I should be aware of for hunting season? Do I have to change my shooting/aiming technique?
I just want to say something i dont wear glasses but i wear sunglasses i tried shooting with sun glasses on one day and i couldnt see through my peep and get it aligned with my pins so it might be just a glasses thing...maybe try contact like headstrong said
I officially became an old fart a few years ago. Been using a verifier in my peep for 4 years now. The only issue is if it's raining or snowing outside, you need to keep the precipitation out of the lens. It can cause you not be able to see through the peep. I definately shoot better with my pins clear and the target just a little bit fuzzy. I don't have a problem shooting with both eyes open. But it might be harder if you shoot with one eye open. I did a blog on it a while back. http://www.bowhunting.com/blog/post/Verifier-Peep-Like-Putting-Reading-Glasses-on-Your-Bow.aspx
I am kind of with headstrong on this one. I wear contacts and when i first started wearing them back in March. when I first started shooting with them, my pins were blury. Since then I have started shooting with both eyes open and my pins are clear and my target is clearer than it was before contacts. My groups have improved 100%. at 20yd my arrow shafts are usually touching unless I am having a slightly off day. My 30yd is in the 2" range and 40yd in the 3"-4" range. I could barely keep it at 6" at 30yd before. Have you tried contacts??
Can't do the contact thing. Been shooting with the corrective lens in my peep and my groups seem to be good. I guess I am going to be taking qtips in the field for just that reason re: the moisture. I think my big issue is going to be the dirt and moisture thing....I guess I will see this season....or not see!
