I loved listening to him call a game, reading a grocery list was pure entertainment by him.

Great guy, used the word ironic or irony a bit much but could call a ball game with the best of them.

Joe G always complained about players chewing tobacco, never addressed the greenies players took even during his era.

I listened to several baseball guys talk about him today, he was a very humble, appreciative man. There will never be another.

Gibson was my favorite player back in the day. Still gives me chills

You're 100% right, that is one of the greatest sport moment memories of my life. Thanks for posting it.

I am too young (hah!) to remember the Miracle on Ice when it actually happened, but in my real remembered lifetime I gotta think this is the top.

He is still my favorite player of all time, I modeled myself after him in baseball best I could (I had no where near the talent. Or competitiveness.) My dad played as a safety against him in high school football and told me that Gibby was the only player that absolutely torched him. The old man was very proud of the fact he tackled Gibby one time in his life.

I have an autographed game worn Tigers jersey of his that sits in a shadowbox, prob never sell and will be given away when I die.

Vin called that HR he let the moment happen without all the chatter, I cried when Gibby left Detroit and I am old enough to have watched the miracle on ice.

Had the pleasure of watching Gibson play football at MSU my freshmen year. The school news paper had asked him what his favorite part of football was. He replied, running over safeties.

And I am more than old enough to remember the miracle on ice.....probably would remember more had I not gotten drunk during the game. LOL

With a career average of 21 yards/catch, there were probably many. LOL
