If you're the Vikings GM, what do you do?

    A) Wait and hope Favre returns and, if he doesn't and you don't get McNabb, have your organization set back several years
    B) Go to Favre and say if he's not willing to commit to come back then the team will look to acquire another QB (this hasn't worked so well with Favre in the past; see Green Bay)
    C) Tell Favre regardless of whether or not he comes back the team will pursue McNabb for the future
    D) Forget about them both, line up Peterson and Harvin in the backfield and run the ultimate wildcat

I sincerely hope so. I think he'd be a fool not to.

    A, or B.

I don't think he'd handle B the way he did with the Packers, anyway.

I would go for Mcnabb...you got one year left with farve if he decided to come back. Mcnabb has alot left in the tank.

Favre will come back...they will win between 12-14 games and he'll be very efficient once again.

But lose to the Packers in the Playoffs

Mcnabb doesnt' have that much left in the tank. I say if you're going to have a fossil as your QB may as well stick with Favre that already knows the system and has a year under his belt with the Vikings. Why does't he just say yes I'm coming back, but I dont' want to go through training camps so I'll "decide" closer to the season.

It's too bad your not in Wisconsin. It's been on the news McCarthy said there going to the Superbowl this year. That's like the kiss of death. As for Favre I hope he retires, he gave it a good run last year and I was pulling for him all the way. I don't think I could do it again.

I'm willing to bet that Brad Childress already has the answer to if Favre is coming back or not. I'd bet money that there was a conversation between the two behind closed doors where Brett said that he will come back but will not announce it until after training camp so that he doesn't have to attend. I think proof of this (for me anyway) is that if the Vikes don't actively pursue McNabb.

mcnabb at his peak wasn't half the player favre is now... mcnabb is overrated and was only marginally successful because of the strong supporting cast he's had around him... vikes would be stupid to give up on the old man if mcnabb is their only viable option...

I disagree, McNabb has been a solid player for many years.

Here is a cool chart that shows McNabb as he stacks up agains the superbowl winning QB's since his entrance into the league.

His career stats are extremely impressive.

I disagree. His career stats are extremely impressive. He is a way above average QB. Any team should be happy to have him. There are at least 15-20 teams out there where Donovan could walk onto their team and start.

But the Viking aren't one of them, with Favre around. And he'll come back.

Supporting cast? Who was the supporting cast he had throughout his career? The only person he had to throw to was TO (until recently). Matter of fact he could have had the worst supporting cast as far as receivers go of any top tier QB.

Amen... his best reciever was his RB (Westbrook). I love hearing people trash McNabb, shows that they have no clue about football. He has kept the Eagles at the top of the toughest division in football for a majority of his career, all the while with only 3 true play makers (Westbrook, Owens, and now Jackson) for his entire career.

I am a Cowboys fan.... I hate the Eagles.... but I have a TON of respect for McNabb. He is a future H.O.F. QB who has been giving nothing to work with, made the best of the situation, never complained, and kept a smile while his city turned for and against him on a weekly basis!

Amen, he has the worst support of any QB ever. the Philly fans will sorley miss him when they have to rebuild. Think many other QB's could remain as professional as him with all the crap he has dealt with. He has hall of fame stats...maybe he will end up in Arizona.
