I have a Sony Handycam Model# DCR-SR40. I was wondering if anyone knows, can this camera be put on manual focus or is it strickly an autofocus model. Aotofocus makes it dificult to do any filming in the woods.

I use a DCR-SR82, and I don't think mine uses auto focus at all. I know on mine it has a toggle on top of the cam as well as by the LCD screen for zoom/focus. Of course there's always the remote too, but I know there's a lot of settings I can tinker with in mine too. Perhaps you'll have to go through all the different settings options until you find it.

I think I have the same model. Yes it can. While on, go to the lower left hand or the upper left hand side of the lcd screen and it the icon then it has an option for manual or auto, and then you pic your distance. I am at work now, I can better explain tonight, if need be. It's not the easiest to use, but it does work.

I would also like to know because this is the model that we use and we have not been able to figure out the manual focus either.
