How do you guys store your HD video? My hard drive is filling up quite quickly with all the stock footage from turkey season. I'm planning on a external hard drive in the near future, just wondered what everyone's method on here is. And do always keep a copy stored elsewhere for safety issues? Thanks

I have enough space on my new mac book pro to store everything right now but i have been looking at getting a back up probably 1 TB so i know i wont run out and it everything will be in safe place incase my computer fails for some reason. I can probably wait a little while though its not very high on my priority list right now.

Troy and I use a terabyte external hard drive. We have loads of video on there and it works great. Find one on sale and
IMO you can't beat it. It takes around 5 min to upload it and your good to go. AVCHD files take up a lot of room, you will fill up your computer in no time

I have a 3 TB HD in my PC, and have space for 4 more as needed. I also have a 1 TB external that I can use for easy transport. Storage is pretty cheap these days. You can get a 1 TB external for about $80 bucks. I picked mine up on a black Friday deal for $50.

if you need space 'right now', you could always burn to disc for the time being. You would have a backup in case anything happened, too. I think you might be able to compress the files to store them on disc so you could get more on there. Just a thought :)

I'm still good as of now, but just for security issues I want all my stock video in atleast two places. Maybe three.

Yeah. I had to delete a few videos before I got that external HD and now I only have them on the Huntvids.com web site:(

You should be able to find a free file downloader online. It will allow you to download videos off YouTube and other places online to your computer.

My PC at home has a 2TB RAID 5 set up so storage and back up isn't an issue for me. I've also got a work laptop which I have a 1TB external drive for back up and I use Microsoft's Sync Toy utility to synchronise the folders I want. That way I just have to run the utility and it backs everything I want up to the external drive.
