I got a couple of those when I lived in Calgary, the one good thing is they don't get reported to your insurance company or cost you any points. If I'm speeding I'd rather get caught that way then get pulled over.
The redlight cams are installed here in Montgomery though I haven't heard of speed cams yet... except on my Hoyt. Some residents are claiming racial biasing determines where the lights go but we have a mayor who doesn't mind waving the b.s. flag at claims like that. I only wish they would put up signs to let people know about the cameras because it seems some people are paranoid about the cams and will lock up their brakes to keep from running a yellow light. Definitely a dangerous thing to do. Live cops... hmm. Just don't speed near a Chinese lunch buffet around here between 10:45 AM and 1:00 PM.
