Yeah, straight out in front of us around a mile or so was a professional drag strip... Those guys had some BIG engines -- and it didn't take long to wind 'em out! :)

    Cool video.

It would really be neat to have all of the time I have been on stand on video. But then again, how many deer would it have cost me??

I'll tell you this: I would have had two more slickheads riding home with me but for the fact we were trying to get good footage.

Saturday morning we got a bit turned around going into one of Mike's stands, and walked a bit of a circle out in front of it. Well, you know what that meant later as a really old doe came in... she licked every branch, twig and piece of grass we touched for close to ten minutes out in front of us. At one point I had her at 20 yards quartering away and I just had a feeling she was turning to leave. I looked up at Mike and asked if he wanted me to take her then, but there wasn't enough time to talk it over.

She eventually worked back around and started to come out at 27 yards and I came to full draw. She was behind a bunch of trees and I only needed her to take a couple more steps and we'd have great broadside footage... but she turned and walked directly away from us.

The next morning, I could have busted another big fat doe at 17 yards as she stood broadside, but Mike and the camera arm were directly in the way. We were going to let her walk on out, but she did the same, walking directly away from us as one of her travelling partners got downwind of us and sounded the alarm.

Both of them were as good as dead save for the filming venture. Obviously, I wouldn't have had it any other way on this trip as I enjoyed talking it up with Mike on stand way more than killing another doe -- but it just goes to prove your point.
