I plan on trying to do some self videoing this season. My question is where to mount the camera on the tree. I'm thinking of putting it overhead. Is there a better position? Ie: shoulder, elbow, knee. As I'm new to this I didn't want to spend a bunch of money yet. Here's what I came up with. Sent from my iPad Mini using Tapatalk Bows, Broadheads and Backstraps
Does it ever get in the way of your bow during a shot? Sent from my iPad Mini using Tapatalk Bows, Broadheads and Backstraps
I have never had an issue with it being in the way. Now I dont strap my camera arm right next to me. The point where the arm connects to the tree is at least 6 inches away from my body. That way the base of the arm is angled away from me, but I can easily swivel the rest of it in any direction. Hope this made some sense.
I Use the muddy outfitter camera arm and typically i have the camera arm coming out from my right side if the tree about waste height when i am standing. Never had any problems with it coming in the way
Whether you are filming yourself or you have a cameraman, the camera arm position is nearly the same, but can differ slightly depending on your preferences. To help extend the reach to your left as much as possible, you shoud be mounting the camera base close to your right hip or slighty above it when standing on the stand with the seat elevated back so you are againced the tree. The camera arm shouldnt be in your way but of course anytime you are self filming, you need to take into consideration your extra movement and the arm/camera can effect the hunt. If this worries you, dont bring it along. If you are hoping to get great results, the equipment you bring to the tree with you can and will effect the quality. Best of luck to everyone!
Thank you for all your helpful comments. I guess hip height it is. I'll post video as things develop. Sent from my iPad Mini using Tapatalk Bows, Broadheads and Backstraps
