I am a poor college student with expensive habits, (bowhunting and waterfowl) I've always thought it would be cool to be able to self film a hunt and this weekend I the best two days of hunting I've ever had without shooting a nice buck, mostly because I had an 130 inch eight point at 5 yards! I would've loved to have that on camera and I feel like I would be able to help convince friends and neighbors to let deer like that walk if I had video proof that I was doing the same, and got video footage of the deer rather then maybe never seeing him again and letting him walk. But back to getting on topic, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of a decent quality camera for under $500, I'm not looking to create an episode or audition for a pro staff, Id just like to film all the incredible things I see while hunting that gives a lot more justice then just a story, without having to explain to my girlfriend of 4 years that a $2000 camera came before an engagement ring haha
A lot of people are using DLSRs for fliming. I think you can get a canon rebel for around 500 or so. You can tell the girlfriend that you got it so you could take professional pics of the two of you. Lol. Might help her get on board with it. The thing is youll need at least a camera arm. Lots of equipment goes into filming hunts.
If that's all your looking for, a canon hf r500 or r600 would work really well! Full hd video with headphone and mic ports.
