I think for many it will be Hey look, you have gotten better. I think pride will push many of them to make sure they are prepared to play.
It'll be a one time thing, if you don't get signed after the veteran combine this year, no one will sign you next year when your a year older. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I don't think it's going to help anybody get signed. If anything, it will hurt them. If teams are interested in a player they will call him in for a private workout. Having a combine is only going to show what teams already know, which is the older free agents have lost a step or more. But it is perfect for the media. It will give them another chance to spend all week overhyping a player.
There were over 100 scouts in attendance so I guess teams must feel there is at least some value to it.
Some of these guys came to the vet combine and ran slow as dogs. Seriously, how can someone trying to get back into the league run significantly slower than ever before and expect anyone to take notice. If anything, take some time off, improve yourself physically, and then return.
Where else would those scouts be this time of year? Watching a spring practice? Most colleges have already had pro day. Maybe it was a what the hell deal....we'll send them
Also not to bring this topic back up....but incase you missed the 4000 news clips or tweets, Michael Sam was at the vet combine.
