Okay, I see a lot of reports where people are ticketed for using bait. I personally don't care what any one does, as long as they keep it legal. If it says you can. Then be my guest. But I want to ask. What is the deffinition of Bait? For instance, when I was in Mono County, CA. We weren't allowed to use minnows for fishing. IDK why? But I didn't. But you could go buy the little rubber minnows (Gulp Alive) So, my question... What if someone was to buy a bunch of plastic apples, and corn, and what not, and put it out with scent attractant, in plain view (hang apples from a tree or , Pile corn in a field for geese?) Would that be baiting, or luring? Would that be any more illegal than using doe in estrus? Decoys? IDK, I'm just curious...(Bored at work)
I know, I'm just saying, what is the definition of bait? Wheres the line between bait, and lure? One is real, the other is immitation? Why do some people sit over corn fields, with rifles that can very easily kill from any point on the field, then wait for deer to come out? That really isn't hunting, that's just waiting. Isn't it? Lol.
IMHO, there is no difference between a bait, attractant, call or lure. It all serves the same purpose, which is to get whatever you are hunting for, to come to you.
They do make plastic corn on the cob for waterfowl hunting. In Illinois, the line of baiting deer is crossed if something is placed/applied that the deer will eat. So you can put out deer pee, tarsal scent, mock scape scent... but if you go around spraying c'mere deer or vanilla or sugar water or salt water around.. you're baiting. Several times a year that stupid 'but it's an attractant, not bait' argument comes up with stuff like c'mere deer. It's illegal dammit... get over it. Heck, if you find a wild apple tree and just move some of the fallen apples into a better position, you're baiting.
Then Would consider someone who grunts and rattles in a big buck to not be a "real hunter?" Or, is there a difference between baiting and calling?
Anyone want to be on the page count, if I post it over on AT? Add in a side bet on flame posts? EDIT: I meant "Anyone want to bet..." I don't care if you want to be on the page count. lol
