Well this is a buck i filmed my buddy shooting last night. We went in to a stand that we don't hunt very often. We save this spot for the rut usually. We went in to the spot and it sits in between two fields and we catch the deer moving from one to another. About an hour after being in the tree we see a really nice buck run through one of the fields chasing a doe and then they disappeared. We knew he had to be in the area still. About and hour or so before dark we had a huge group of does, about 11 or 12, come through right under our stand and head out into another field. We figured the big buck would follow, well he didn't. About a half hour before dark we see a big 8 come into the field all the does are in now and he was bumping a bunch of them around. They were a good 500 yards off so we never in a million years would have thought he would come up to us. Well it turns out that the one doe that i guess was hot ended up leaving all the other does and heads right towards us. He follows and come into the shooting lane at 40 yards. My buddy draws back and shoots about 2 inches right under him, We were crushed. He took a few jumps and stopped and the doe stayed right by us. He ended up coming right back to us. At 30 yards he started to come in and he drew back again and the deer stopped. He was drawn back for 4 minutes, when we went back and looked at the footage, He was slightly quartering to us and he took the shot. He hit the front shoulder and again we were crushed. He knew and i knew at that moment he should not have taken that shot. He got wrapped up in the moment and did something he shouldn't have. We figured there is no way this deer is going to die. We got down went to the house and we were in for a long night. Got up the next morning and went out at 7 a.m. We were very surprised to find any blood at all...there was actually a lot of it too. We followed blood for about 800 yards and lost it. We did grid search after grid search on every place we could think that he went. We decided to check a creek bottom about a mile to a mile and a half from where the deer was shot. Sure enough at about 3 o'clock we found the deer. It took us 8 hours to find him but we found him. The coyotes had got to him but we were still about to get a little bit of the meat. What a hunt! Footage will be coming soon and can't wait to share it with you guys.

Thanks everyone! The buck was a huge body deer. I will admit that he looks huge in the pics and he wasn't quite that big but pretty darn close. We were not trying to make him look extra big or anything but did take a lot of time taking the pictures. We were guessing the deer to be 4 and a half years old and one of the biggest body deer we had shot on our property.
