I am in the market for new camo this year and I am quite intrigued by the vertigo pattern. Is it effective during early season in New England hardwood forests? Anyone else use it in similar locations? And what would be more effective, gray or tan?
I think it would be effective anytime/anywhere. I like the gray better, more contrast. I'll be trying it too, this season.
The only thing I am not too sure about is being spotted on the ground with the gray. In the tree I don't think it would be much of an issue but is it too much for the ground? I don't wanna spook deer walking in or out of the woods with the light color. Thoughts?
Tan or gray shouldn't cause you to get spotted. Deer see a lot of colors as shades of gray so you would be fine. http://www.fieldandstream.com/articles/hunting/2003/06/what-deer-see
Thanks, good article. I am thinking I will go with the Vertigo Gray as well. It seems like the Vertigo does a really good job breaking up the silhouette. Any body have any hands on experience with it: pros, cons, etc?
I have Vertigo grey that I use later in the season. I use my light turkey hunting clothes early season to keep cool. Vertigo is a great pattern. When I was in MN last year my buddy could see me from a couple hundred yards away in his binos. One day I wore my Predator grey and he said he could see me fine. The next day I wore Vertigo and he said he thought I was gone until his saw my bow swinging in the breeze. I was impressed because I love Predator.
