Does anybody have any good crock pot recipes they can share? Preferably for backstrap.
    Thanks in advance.

    For a Roast:
I like to season the meat with Lawry's and cracked pepper, then sear all sides in a HOT cast iron skillet. Once seared, I put it in the crock pot with Chicken broth, not Beef broth.
After 2 hours in the pot, I add a whole onion, quartered potatoes, diced celery and a shot of orange juice. I know the OJ sounds strange, but the citrus tastes good to me!!

It won't be a dark heavy stew. The liquid makes a nice golden gravy.

I usually use roasts and steaks, tougher cuts. The backstraps are for the grill.

    Hope you like it

Save the back straps for the grill, use the lesser cuts for the crock pot.

Venison makes excellent stew. Grab a stew packet from the grocery store, add potato's, carrots, and cubed venison.

Been liking a McCormick's slow cooker season packet, 1 cup H20, 2lbs venison, some dice carrots, sliced mushrooms served over noodles. Cook in the crock for 5-6 hours on low. Pull out meat and dice or shred it, and put it back in for the balance of the cook time. Bed the noodles and scoop out the mix over the top. Prefer to serve w/ warm bread. Lately we have really been loving asiago bread.

I make my stew in the crockpot, usually from the shanks, the neck, or the front shoulder.

I put the meat in with about 1 1/2 c of water, 1 pack McCormicks Beef Stew Seasoning (use McCormicks only, better than any other that I've tried.

Let it cook for several hours (4-5), until the meat falls apart.

Pull out the bone, fat, etc.

Add chopped celery and onion, cook another 1/2hr until celery and onion are soft

Dump in (all drained unless more liquid is needed, make as thick as you want)
    2 cans of sliced potatoes
    1 can peas
    1 can sliced carrots

Sometimes I'll add a Tbsp or so of brown sugar.

    Cook until vegetables are hot

    Serve with flaky biscuits

Here is one that you can serve to anyone that isn't a venison eater and they will never know its not beef!

2 tenderized round steak - flour and brown in a skillet. Cut each steaks into 4 pieces and put in crock pot.

Add two cans golden mushroom soup, one can French onion soup and 1/8 cup of balsamic vinegar.

Pepper liberally and cook on low for 6 hrs.

Server with mash potatoes, and your favorite green veggie!

    Enjoy!

    Great recipe's everyone!

A simple one we do often is load the slow cooker with your venison and put in 2 packs of Lipton Onion Soup Mix. Cook all day and an hour or so before done add your potatoes and carrots. Cook on high all that time. May want to add a packet or two of brown gravy mix too.
