I pulled my trail camera today for the last time before the season opener this Saturday. I was happy to see that I had HUNDRED's of pictures over the last 2 weeks. My big buck finally showed back up, and not only did he show up but he's visiting the area multiple times a day. One day I had pictures of him at midnight, dawn, and dusk. I'm regularly getting pictures of him at dawn and dusk. I'm pretty excited about having him visiting the area again on a regular basis. As long as he doesn't disapear again within the next 5 days. What's interesting is that I have a couple pictures of him last night and he is STILL in full velvet. His buddy (a 6pt that's always with him) has just freshly shed his velvet, because his antlers are still a reddish color. Is this normal for this buck to have his velvet still intact? I will add that one of his front legs is busted up or something because he has had a limp ALL summer. All I know is that I would LOVE for him to hold onto his velvet for 5 more days and give me shot at him opening morning :D

Ive never seen a buck in full velvet this time of year but i would assume its not uncommon. Im sure he will shed it within the next week or two. Post some picks of this brute!

He's far from a brute. But he's the biggest deer in these woods. That's all you can do, is try to kill the biggest deer in the woods you hunt. He looks like a big 6pt LOL. I'd be more than happy with him though and he would go on the wall next to my others. This piece of land (which I can walk to from my house and be sitting in my stand within 10mins of walking out the back door) doesn't have the potential that my other piece of property has, but I love hunting it because it's what I cut my teeth on. I've hunted it as long as I have been hunting.

Anyway, here's a cropped picture from a couple days ago.

That's a cool looking buck, Matt.. love the height on him! I have a 6 pointer on cam from last Tuesday, still in full velvet. First time I've seen that around here, this late.
