I was out watching some deer tonight and had a group of 8 small bucks come out into the beans pretty early. Two of the small bucks walked up to each other and started sparring. I was pretty suprised to see them locking antlers this early in the year, especially when they are still in velvet. Has anyone else ever seen this?

Yeah see it quite a bit with younger bucks....just playing and figuring out their new set of horns.....never seen anything real aggressive in velvet

Seems a bit early for them to be doing that, unless they are already turning into hard bone this early. I would have figured we were 2-3 weeks away from that phase still.
