I have a question since we do not get a chance to hunt bucks in velvet here.
Is there a deduction on the score for the velvet being on still?
I saw a couple guys put down some nice velvets but I am not sure how they would enter a score if it was on my team

Not every one in the contest can get a doe tag either, but you got 50 points last year for your doe.

Perhaps the velvet issue should have been resolved before folks starting dropping them....................just a thought.

    Well sir Tom.
Thus had gone the wrong way again.
My original question was not because i don't think they should not be able to use them.
It is just because i have no idea how it should be scored.
By the way what state doesn't let you shoot a doe?

Score a velvet buck the same as you would score it after it was shed. Nothing is "fair" in this contest. I will be lucky to see 6 deer this fall. Many will see twice that in one sit. Maybe not fair, but it's part of the contest when we hunt across the entire country & Canada.

Oh come on already i was not saying it was not fair.
I simply asked so that if someone on my team got a velvet buck i knew the answer.

Mike, the "fair"ness part wasn't directed at you, but all who read the thread. There have been 5 or 6 "but what about this?" or "These guys can do this" threads. So, I find myself letting everyone know that life isn't fair in all my responses.

I'm happy to see a number of velvet bucks hit the ground already! seems more than previous years?

    Ty Fitz.
    I agree completely.
But you know more members = more teams = my problems.
I really think thus year there are going to be several records broken..
The buck movement and activity all around has been way more like it used to be and not like the part couple years

On A buck like Troy's it would lead to about 8 inches in measurments extra. Hey it's only a contest and were still finding questions to ask? That's the fun part. Now if anyone contest an issue then that's where Fritz comes in to action! Hey Hey Fitz our team leader and he's dang good at it ,Thank You Fitz.
