Semi-autos that have the ability to hold high capacity magazines in general would be the focus.

Why have laws? Let's just have anarchy and the strongest live.

I know I can take folks from Wisconsin.

Holy smokes........... What does NEED have to do with anything? You don't need a corvette, but many people have them. You don't need a pool in your back yard, but many people have them. You don't need an Iphone, but many have them. You don't need a house in the suburbs, but many people choose to live there. You don't need to bowhunt, but we choose to.

We do all those things, not because we need them, but because we have the right to. Subjects look to the government for approval, free people just do things because they can.

I didn't say that. But you're advocating for a sub-law under a law that already exists in all 50 states. Murder is illegal, right?

How many people are you going to kill in a crowd with brass knuckles before someone pounds your head into the ground? Not many, if any. Your analogy is a tired fallacy.

Ease of access to the mentally ill is part of the issue. You guys in denial are throwing logic out the window. See, again, that argument really has no merit.

We are going to have to want to make a change, for things to get better, even a little better would suffice.

The change is not just laws guys. If you do talk to an Australian, which I have. They tell you it was not the gun control laws they added, it was the fact they wanted to be better.

What 1 thing can we do to be better that is not a new law?

So we ban trucks, PVC pipe, nails, gun powder, fertilizer, hmm, how many other countless things can be used to kill multiple people?

    I was simply curious.

So your reason to own AR's is because you have the right to? Interesting! Thanks for sharing!

How many rounds is acceptable? It only takes a second or two to change mags. So maybe 20 seconds difference in putting 100 rounds down range is the difference?

My mom, step-dad, and 8 brothers/sisters live in Australia, step-dad is from there. I've been there multiple times in my life. They hate the crime there because they don't have the ability to protect themselves.

I don't own one, simply because I have better things to spend my money on like Bow supplies. If that wasn't the case I would have one because they are a blast to shoot. I just can't afford to throw that amount of cash downrange on ammo.

They rank 41st in violent crime, we are 1st, I guess protecting ourselves is not deterring crime, so what else can be done?

Laws do not prevent crime. laws are there to punish those who do commit them. Murder has the highest level of punishment we can give out, if that doesn't deter them, do you think adding another law will?

As most of you that know me know, I am somewhat playing Devil's advocate here for sport. But, the fact remains that there will likely be some changes coming. It might be selfish to not at least consider both sides to a terribly sad situation. If I had lost a son to a school shooting or a sniper attack like Vegas, I might have some very strong feelings about gun restrictions. I am open to ideas as it is now.

I think we had a pretty good day of solid debate without anyone getting too abused. I would guess that our group handled this topic with far more class than most social sites. Peace to all of you and good hunting.

Did I really see Vito and Spear?!!!! Love it.

How many crimes in the US as deterred because the "victim" was able to protect themselves.

That's cool and all, and better than the current action they are taking. I am making an assumption you are referring to young black men since you referenced the players kneeling, cities, and gangs. Which is a problem that needs to be addressed. Doesn't prevent many mass shootings, but it's certainly a topic most of America is more comfortable with.
