So it took about 30 minutes for the first Prog puke to make the tragedy political...anyhoo there's a lot of things that I want to say, some not smart on any public forum (no matter how "anonymous"). But I have restrained myself to the point that I just want to give a huge shout out to my brave brother and sister First Responders. I have literally watched hours of cell phone footage and seen dozens of heroes in action, some off duty cops/firemen/medics, some former service people, taking action. They are heroes. Flat out. Even off duty or retired, they continue to serve us all. Some are undoubtedly everyday Americans w/ no formal training or ingrained sense of duty other than that as compassionate fellow citizens. To those heroes I say thank you most of all. As of this missive; I don't know if I knew anyone there or who was a victim. But I very well could have. They're my kind of people. Had the concert not been Opening Weekend I would have been there. Weeks ago, my wife and I spoke of going. We both called local radio stations trying to win tickets. A lot of information will come out in the next few days that will (hopefully) shed a lot of light on the event. I for one don't believe he acted alone in at least the planning phase. But that's an educated guess. I also believe that he used a belt-fed (at least drum fed) weapon for at least a significant portion of the shooting. Also an educated guess. I've shot thousands of rounds through full automatic shoulder fired small arms and I don't for one second think that's what this guy was using. I might be wrong on both those line of thoughts. But I'm not wrong on how heroic the actions of many were. Bless all of them and those who were there or lost those who were there. (wish I could make the face crying)
This article and the comments made literally made me sick to my stomach. I never visit the large news websites but this happened to pop up on my Google search apps home page... I had to click on it. Not hours after this happened it is turned into a political battle. Why? WHY DOES EVERYTHING HAVE TO BE REPUBLICAN/DEMOCRAT. Quite frankly I'm freaking tired of it. I am just going say I am sorry we put political differences over your lives. Nothing will change, I know because after we tolerated kids being killed at sandy hook, I knew then, nothing will change. Edit Hotel security will change, my bad.
So it is the guns fault for Sandy Hook and Las Vegas? If all guns were removed from the citizens of the US, we would then lead the world in stabbing deaths. We live in a violent society.
Never put blame on guns, what I said was nothing will change. Could you images the deaths if he threw knives from the 30th floor? I'd keep the knife anology out of this one, does not matter because nothing will change.
There was no legal means to stop the man from buying guns, he had no record, no crimes. What gun law that you would add would prevent the crime? You seem to have ideas how to prevent gun deaths lets hear them?
You want to ban guns from law abiding citizens because a few commit crimes with guns, I say few because the % of legal gun owners who never commit a gun crime vs the number of gun crimes. Using your logic if we banned candy we would cure obesity, and we all know that will not happen.
Europe has very strict gun laws little to no private gun ownership, that sure has prevented mass casualty incidents now hasn't it? No not at all if a person is mentally ill or radically motivated they will find a way to carry out a violent plan.
Using the liberal logic we can not hold all Muslims responsible for terrorists activities, we can not blame all black men for a crime committed by a black man. Yet when there is a gun crime we need to punish all gun owners.

I believe when details of the weapons used comes out, we will find that he was not using any fully automatic weapons. I've read one article that is claiming that there were guns with bump stocks. I was watching some of the videos and one was from late in the incident were he wasn't firing as steady, just one or two rounds at a time, and you could hear the echoing. I believe that it was the echoes that made it sound like a fully auto. I've heard the same thing at shooting ranges when I was in the military and civilian. These are the times when we have a real opportunity to come together, if we will just take advantage of that opportunity. No amount of gun control is going to do anything. People who want to kill will find a way. Only need to look at the Arianna Grande concert. People keep saying we have a Gun Violence problem and I completely disagree. We have a Violence problem period. Unless we the people learn to respect life again, these mass killings will continue in one form or another. I also tip my hat and thank all those who acted in ways to save lives. Our Responders, but also just the regular Joe's and Jane's at the event. I've seen the stories, a father who laid on top of his daughters to shield them to end up with footprints on his back where people ran on top of them trying to escape. Another of a college student who made multiple trips in and out of the event grounds helping people get clear.
The knife analogy applied to regular run of the mill violence not the Las Vegas attack, then again you knew that but thought (or didn't think) that it would be a valid counter point.
My point is the guy broke several gun laws and a few of the 10 commandments as well with his actions. Adding new laws will not prevent mental illness and mass casualty events. It is illogical for the democrats to demand more laws it will not prevent violent attacks. My point is if a gun is not available there will be another weapon used, like a cargo van, a pressure cooker, hijacking an airplane etc.
He was using bumpstocks, which completely explains the varying rates of fire. Made it sound slower cycling like a belt-fed AK variant. I suspect Feinstein, et al will propose a ban by COB today. But this thread wasn't intended as a gun control meme. It was about recognizing that when things go bad our LEOs, first responders and military are willing to literally stand in the face of hellfire while most of their fellow man runs or cowers in fear...Or kneels before the flag.
