Well, I heard everyone talk about vanilla extract so I decided to get some and try it out. First off, $10 bucks for a 4oz bottle of kroger brand pure extract, lol, not a big deal but I had expected like $3.

Question, Do you guys dilute it with water in a spray bottle, or do you just take the extract bottle and do a drop every few feet? I'd like to hear from those of you who have actually used it for yourself, and had some success that you can attribute to the vanilla. And how you went about using it.
    Thanks

Well I never actually knew of anyone to try it...I've heard the tales but it was always the friend of somone's uncle's, brother-in-law.

Much like hanging Candy canes on branches, not something I'm likely to try.

    Keep us posted

Sounds plausible and possibly worth trying. Probably draw pigs though, and theyll smell it from a mile away. When hunting them, we use sour corn and rasberry jello powder, and ive seen a definite difference in holes where we use that as opposed to those we dont, and the pigs LOVE it!!!

We don't have any hogs on our property, thankfully, so they're no concern. I'm just wanting to find out about deer.

$10.00 for 4 oz. , that must be the high classed stuff..........lol........i get 12oz bottles at Rural King for $1.19 a bottle , and from the dollar store .

Tell ya what i do , i mix it with vegetable oil or soy oil , 50/50 that way for the morning dew and possible rain the vanilla extract and oil will repell the water and stay there longer as its mixed together.

I've been using it for about 10 years now with nothing but good results , think of it this way , you have the Buck Bomb that comes in a Vanilla Scent , you have the 4oz bottles of Vanilla Killa and VK all game lure for $15.00 a bottle and if you do a google search you will find other companys trying to sell you the same product ......its a food source for them when they smell the sweet aroma in early season and late season it draws them in.

Like i had mentioned in another thread , i had just bought a new Big Dog Ladder stand with some extra extensions , just way to heavy to carry it through all the bull crap and two miles through the woods so i set it up at a closer nicely cleared location where there was little no deer activity , spraying a trail with a 32oz bottle i had mixed up from the bean field to the stand with the Vanilla to a 50lb salt block a pool of water , shelled corn and some other goodies there now coming in on a regular bassis .

I'm not saying this is the most greatest stuff to use but its cheap and effective for me .

and if you want to know whet else i make up and use besides Vanilla , i collect accorns by the 5 gallon pail , i then boil them and smash them up while boiling in distilled water , and then strain the accorn oil into jugs , then mix soybean oil in with it and spray it around my stand locations also , and it is also cheap and effective . Does Accorn Rage ring a bell ? .......lol

I'll spend a day making up my own stuff before i spend my money foolishly buying into some elses ideas and giving them my money when i can make it all pretty much myself , thats just my own personal note , each there own .

One can make any kind of scent for in spray bottles , you can boil cherries and smash them up to extract all the oils and juice , apples , accorns , persimmons , peaches , pumkins , blueberries , anything sweet like that will draw in a deer to investagate , i've also used the stuff i make for Bear Lures.
