I am looking for some new vanes to try this year. I have only shot Blazer's and Quickspins and was looking at either AAE Max Hunters or some sort of 4 inch vane. What do you guys recommend? I will most likely fletch them with a right helical. I shot G5 Montecs so I want them to shot fixed blade broad heads very well. Thanks in advance!

I used to shoot 3" fusion vanes and liked them a lot. They worked well had a short profile and actually seemed quieter in flight. Friend of mine still shoots them and loves them

I am ordering these this week actually for these same reasons and to see if it'll help stabilize arrow flight better than the shorter vanes because I now have switched to fix bh's

I have considered the fusions as well. I have not really heard anything bad about them so I may give them a try. Have you tried the neon fusion vanes? I like the idea behind them but just wonder about how they fly.

I tried the neon fusions but didn't really like them but to be honest I just didn't like the way they looked so I didn't give them much of a chance. If I remember correctly I had some trouble fletching them.

I switched to the AAE max hunters and so far like them. I was using blazers with good results but I'm shooting exodus fixed blades now.

I havent tried the Neon Fusions, but I have been shooting the 2.1" Norway Fusion Vanes and have liked them a lot so far. I am only switching the the 3" to see if there will be a difference in stability with a fix bh now. Plus the lower profile of the 3" is something I think I'll like a lot for better cable clearance.

I am torn between the 3" fusions, AAE Max Hunters, or just a set of 4" vanes.

I tried lots of vanes the last few years. I recommend Flex-Fletch. Either the FFP-360 or if you are looking for smaller go with the SK-300. Both are very durable, stick great (zing primer and AAE Fastset Gel-you can't pull them off with pliars) and very quiet. I won't be changing in a while.

There is a good article in the July issue of petersens bowhunting about vanes. They tested 8 brands and review them.

Lets say I get 12 new Maxima Reds, what would be the point of switching vanes?

Are the ones that come with the arrows not up to par, etc?

based on the review in bowhunting magazine, I THINK the results were that taller and offset veins resulted in tighter groups/more stability in flight. I don't have the article handy, but can verify their results if needed.

I shoot the 3' fusions, but that's all I have ever used, so I have nothing to compare them to. I suspect at bow killing distances for whitetail, it's not that big a difference. If you were/are shooing 50 yards plus out west, it could be a factor.

I use these on my x-bow arrows (Flex-Fletch vanes-SK-300/offset fletched) I could not believe how much of a difference In accuracy... Now with my compound, I have been using feathers for over 30 yrs. and I am considering trying these on my arrows for the compound... 50 lb. Draw weight - Easton FMJ, 400's - 30" arrow - Fixed 125 gr., magnus stingers/Bear razor heads... Would there be much difference in accuracy, with going to this set-up? I use a Bitz' jig, so I would use the helical clamp. I also have a Bohning tower jig. However, I think that you can only fletch 2" vanes with those. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks... J.
