So I bought a jig to start putting my own vanes on and it isn't working out for me. Here is what I am doing:

1-striping arrow of vane and old glue with dul knife
2-cleaning with comet and scotch pad
    3-rinsing under hot water
    4-air dry
    5-putting in new vanes

I am using GT XT hunter7595, platinum glue, and blazer vanes. my vanes might stay on for 6 shots (if I am lucky). I had four arrows that I put a wrap on and they all stayed except for one. All of the vanes placed directly on arrow have fallen off. I also let my arrows sit overnight befor shooting.

    What am I doing wrong?

I had problems with the FletchTite Platinum on Blazer vanes too. Switched to original FletchTite, and problem solved. I would do all the other steps you do, and then wipe down the shaft with denatured alcohol on a rag. Be careful not to touch the base of the vane too.

I winter in Cali. and shoot 24 3d's/year. Just got back from one. LOCtite blue is the only product to use. Within minutes of drying try and put the vane in a vise and pull it off.

yeah so have I. I just used Bohning platinum glue and was having vanes fall off the course. and that was with using denatured alcohol. how old are your vanes? mine are 3 yrs old & think that's what the problem is. But of course tonight I solved all my issues and put on the NAP quick fletch with curved vanes. You should really check that product out. super fast & real easy to put on. I think I'm done will all that gluing stuff. we'll see how they fly this week.

I bought my blazers off of ebay last October. i don't know how old they really are because they were shipped in a sandwhich bag. I haven't tried quick fletch, really want to put the blazers on. The reason I bought the platinum is because the guy at shop recomeded it. If that is all that I am doing wrong, I will get Loctite today and try it.

I had problems w. my Fusion vanes coming off. I had the local pro shop put them on. They put new blazers on, and I haven't had any issues. I don't know what type of glue they use, but I guess some glue works good for one type, but not the other.

Not true. pro shops have multiple tubes of brand x glue sitting open and losing there bonding ability. Loctite blue is the strongest glue. The best way is to fletch a bunch of arrows with a new tube, then throw the tube out. It's a $4 investment.

I use loctite professional super glue. It's in a blue bottle at walmart. I got it a few years ago to fletch arrows and install inserts. To this day I have yet to have a fletching fall off on it's own.

Bought the $4 locktite and it worked vanes do not come off. Not real happy with the film it leaves on the shaft, but at least they stay on. I had the best luck putting a couple of drop on the vane and then spreading it with a plastic toothpick before placing it in the jig.

    Thanks alot guys!

Maybe it's true, maybe it's not but I've had lots of Blazers installed and have never had any issues with the vanes coming off. I've had about 15 fusion vanes come off in a dozen arrows. Fusions are made of a different material at the base, and it could be possible that what ever glue they were using doesn't work as will with the materials in the fusion vanes. Not all glues are created equally, and I can't speak for what glue they were using, but they made mention of it being something supplied specifically for fletching arrows.
