I kno I'm "tagget out for the contest, but I figured I'd share a VA Update with yall. So far, in 2 days of hunting in the Jefferson National Forrest, I have seen 8 bucks, 7 on the first day...all within bow range...and 5 does.

After letting all the bucks walk I decided I had to scratch the itch and let the Obsession go to work on a doe. Shot her at 20yds, she went 40yds and piled up on camera. In this area of VA it's 1 deer per day, being that it was the last 15min of daylight and activity was slow I figured taking a doe was a safe bet. Nope. A 7pt came walkin in right as she hit the dirt.

Haha oh well, it was a buck I have passed twice already...so no harm. I also had a mama and 2 cubs run by at 30yds yesterday....been a great trip so far! Anyways here are some pics, all the bucks I passed (that weren't spikes or forkhorns) and my doe.

Sounds like a great trip so far. Best of luck putting a buck down, some of them sure would be hard to pass for me

Dad got on the board this morning with a spike (thought it was a doe). The spike only had 2" spikes..skinning him down now then it's back to the woods!

It was hard passing on some of those bucks, but I kno the potential running these ridges so I'll wait for now....come Friday or Saturday they may not be so lucky lol

Well had another successful night in a tree. This time my dad and I shared the tree with him on camera duty. He killed a deer yesterday AM and we decided it was a great opportunity to share time in a tree. Had this doe come in before last light and give me a 36yd shot. And dad got it all on camera. Great time together and a memory that'll sure last a lifetime!

I wish I had an activity my Dad and I shared. But congratulations on another successful time! Sounds like you chose a great spot and time to take a trip!

2 does so far this morning. Walked within 6yds...I could hear them crunching acorns they were so close. Then I had 5 gobblers come and run the deer of, but they put on a show, strutting and gobbling...good day so far!

Sheesh! That just is a hot spot. Is this the same stand you shot the doe out of the other night?

Yup, same stand, but I moved 20yds straight across the trail from the tree I shot the doe out of. Back in it this morning and had 1 doe come up the ridge and then get chased by 2 spikes. The spikes then did a couple walk by laps before leaving the ridge. Been quiet since.

This was the 2nd P&Y I had walk in on me last night that I couldn't get a shot on. Walked to straight in, providing no hope for a shot, step for step with my boot tracks where I had sprayed Freedom Outdoor Adventures Smokin Hot Tail Doe Estrus on the bottom of them. Walked to the base of my tree looked up...saw me move the camera, and turned and walked straight away from me and out of my life. The first buck that came in before him made this one look like a scrub. Pretty bummed about it, but gotta take it in stride and keep hunting. Neither bucked spooked, they just turned and walked away calmly.

Got it done for a 3rd time in VA tonight. Had this buck come in after camera light feeding thru. He crossed my track where I sprayed Smokin Hot Tail Doe Estrus, got down wind of that and a scent wick, turned around and started searchin....at 20yds he cleared some brush and I settled my pin right in the heart pocket. Rage Hypodermic hit and he let out a grunt, went to try to run, fell over got up, slammed into some trees and died within 30yds of the shot. Not a giant like I saw last night but I'm still damn proud of him....2 buck tags left to fill!
