dmen....here are the tentative dates. I picked them because they are after Halloween and before everyone's home states kick off the more aggressive part of the rut. Gives us time at home with the family at Halloween and also allows us to hunt our home states IF people want to go home. :)

WHEN: Friday November 1st until Tuesday-Wed November 5th or 6th. I will more than likely arrive Friday morning after travelling all night and will hunt the afternoon.

    And lastoneout suggested these areas....

    Woodbury wildlife area (15,000 acres)
and conesville coal mine(15,000 acres) company 20 mins apart.

    Here is an article:

Finally able to confirm some dates, looks like there is no way to do the 1st-5th this year. :-( maybe next year. I still will be traveling to Ohio, just the following week. Look forward to hearing good things from you guys on this hunt.

Depending on what my tag situation in Minnesota looks like I would love to get in on this :)

And.... this is just a thought, at the moment... my cabin is in Muskingum county (perennial top 5 finisher), and directly borders Blue Rock state forest (4500+ acres). Also, AEP land is less than a 20 minute drive (35,000+ acres). It's probably 40 minutes or so to Woodbury and/or Conesville areas, though I've never hunted either.

My only issue with being able to put a nice sized group up would be timing.... my pops tends to have a few of his buddies out during the 1st & 2nd weeks of November. However, he also travels out of state quite a bit... in N. Dakota fishing, as we speak. Alaska in August and Colorado or Nebraska will likely come in Sept. or Nov., depending on his plans (I can't keep up with the man's schedule!)

That said, Brett, I'd be willing to look into the option of using it as base camp, if that's something you'd be interested in...

Absolutely that would be something we would be interested in Josh. I don't mind getting up the morning and travelling a bit to hunt every now and then. We could all hop around and figure out which area is hot.

Good deal. I'll check into it :tu:
And I can show the group around a lot of different areas. I've been hunting the area for 20+ years and have no problem showing the group where we (myself/family/friends) have had success. We have a ton of deer in the area, including some real studs.

Josh, you are our ace in the hole now buddy. In fact, just leave your bow behind and become our paid guide. :)

Ha! I might put down my bow and follow Josh(gri22ly) around like a lost puppy.... he's one of those guys that has a lot to teach, and I like to learn!

Speaking of which, I'll give buckeye a call and see if he's able to make a cameo... no doubt he'll be tagged out before November lol

I have been watching this thread for a while now and I will be hunting some private land about 20 miles from the wildlife area that has been mentioned. I will be there the week prior to the dates so I cannot commit since I may be tagged out, but I would like to possibly visit the campsite if anyone will be getting there Thursday.

Well just signed a great lease deal today so I don't think I will be able to make this. Hope it works out for everyone!

Forget this. I'm going to hunt with Ferg!!

All kidding aside, I talked to my pops... and he, along with his buddies, will indeed be in Ohio and using the cabin the first 2 weeks of November. But there could be a couple alternatives, if there's still interest in using the area.
We have a camper that comfortably sleeps 3, and I might be able to access another camper of about the same size. There is also the state park campground a couple miles down the road. It's not nearly as cut & dry as what I initially had in mind. But if you guys want to give it a shot, it could be pulled off -with some planning.
