Me and my buddies are going down just about every weekend starting opening day. We hit almost everything around 83 but mostly the old stuff.

No we haven't. Lets try to get a grip on it soon. Get a good spot and then we can focus on that one property of fan off to hunt some other close by spots.

There is a free camping area owned by AEP on the corner of State Route 83 and County Road 429 in Wills Creek.

It is kind of small and gets extremely crowded, but its free and like a quarter mile from our camper.

The city of Coshocton is only 10 minutes away and Will Creek General Store a mile or so.

    That's rough.

From what I understand AEP coal company land and Woodbury are about 20-30 mins apart from each other, is this correct?

I haven't done any research recently, but when I did it back in February these two places stood out to me. Do you know of any camping places around these area?

    See my post above #226.

From edge to edge I would say they are no more than 15 minutes apart.

So guys we are set on that AEP Coal land and Woodbury WMA correct?

What is the specific name of the coal land so I can start looking at maps?

I am going to start looking over the Woodbury map tonight. Is Woodbury or the coal land "bow only"?

If you are going, send me a PM with your e-mail so we can start a group e-mail list with map study, and other logistical stuff.

None of them are bow only. The public land in that area is called AEP coal lands, Woodbury and Tri Valley.

You will need to google a map of aep, as they are not listed as public land on the maps because it is not state owned land.

As far as I know you need a permit for aep it's not hard to obtain.

I spent the day down in Wills Creek at the camper yesterday framing and roofing an 11x19 canopy. I was going to snap some photos of that campground just down the road but we ran out of time and it was dark after we were all packed up and heading home. Next tie down I will snap some photos for you.

That campground does have a pavilion with picnic tables, a well for water and an outhouse. No electricity however.

Here is a photo of the canopy and camper we hunt out of.

Yes, it is over the counter and takes about 2 minutes to fill out.

I have tons of them, but it is easier to answer specific questions than list tips.

I will tell you, the topography is much rougher than a topo map will indicate in a stripped area. You will encounter shear drop offs that can be over 100 feet straight down and these highwall drop offs can snake the topography for very long lengths.

Stripped areas are also almost always very thick as well.

Scott, you hunting out of that camper during the times we will be in town? (Nov 1 or-Nov 6 or so)

I like rough areas, but I also like to have a clue what I am doing....hahaha. Do downwind sides of thickets deep in the properties generally hold deer or are the deer numbers low and one needs to scout a ton to really get on the deer?
