Josh those campers sound good. If not we can just throw up some tents and make a fire. Either way it will be good to see you guys and hunt hard. Your knowledge of the area will be invaluable if you can make it.

    bring on November!

Hmmm - looks like we are from the same region...?

I remember VS mentioning this too me last year and see that it looks like it would come to fruition - good deal!
I'll have to keep my eyes open on this one.

I have hunted SE OH during Muzzle loader season in 2010 & 2012 and figured rut would be the better time (dah, of course:))
WNF - Marietta section on the Ohio River...

Our lease property sits on the Muskingum - Guernsey county boarder. Maybe I'll stop by and meet you guys once you figure out where you will be staying.

I'm putting in overtime each month to save up for this trip. I've only ever been on one hunting "trip" and that was to North Carolina for a few days a few years ago. So needless to say I am an out of state hunting rookie. The only thing I think I need to get is a new sight for my bow. The pins are .029 and as I have gotten older they start to get a little fuzzy at 30 yds. I think dropping them down to a .019 size will help me out a bit. Any suggestions for a .019 vertical pin sight?

Ever try a single pin, Brett?

I switched to a HHA .019 slider a few years back... and I'll never go back!

Never done a single pin but would be willing to try. Do I have to adjust it before I shoot based on distance? I don't think I could deal with that if that is the case.

I only adjust when target shooting. When I hunt, I keep all shots under 30 yards. That allows me to leave my pin on 20. If the animal is at 30, I'll put my pin an inch high. Regardless, you'll always be in the vitals... and you'll never have to play "select the right pin" again :tu:

Interesting Josh. Will it work even on a slower bow like mine? I am sure my bow is not pushing but 80% of the speed of most modern day compounds.

It's all about your comfort level.

I'd shoot some arrows, using only your 20 yard (or close) pin. Step back to 30 yards and give it a shot. If your arrows drop more than a couple inches, or outside the realm of your comfort level -you might be better off sticking to your original plan. But if there's little variation, then you're good to go!

When I originally slimmed down to a single pin, I did so by simply removing all but one pin from my old sight. It worked perfectly, until I wanted to shoot some 3D lol...

Im shooting a single pin slider at 230 fps.

Set pin at 23 and that will cover 90% of shots from a stand in the woods.

Brett - can you put an updated list for everyone w/ proposed location and proposed participants?

I think this might help some that are on the fence when they see the outcome!!!

Thanks T. I bet my bow is shooting about 250 so we are comparable. I trust you and Josh and will be getting a single pin hha slider. I haven't had a new sight in 6 to 7 years.

Just set your pin you have now for 23 yards and see how you shoot from 0-25+ yards.

I know I will need to hold a little high at 30 if there isn't time to set it but it won't be a big concern.

My son used it last season and he was shooting around 215 fps. He wanted to go back to pins because he wasn't comfortable with it being a fixed pin if he didn't have time to adjust.
