Just thought I would post a va thread to post any rut activity noticed in va. Went out this morning saw 1 4pt and a small doe so no specific activity to report here. Anyone else in va have something to report.

I'm in SW Va... Saturday(my last day out) I had several deer sightings out of range, some does, spikes.. etc.. running back and forth. I also had a 120's + out of range also, I have to think he was cruising with all of the others. He came in behind me and around below back in the direction he came from.

I have seen an increase in rubs and scrapes, no chasing yet. Some of my friends in other area's of VA have seen bucks chasing hard. I'm sure its going on, I just haven't seen it here yet.

Bucks are definitely pushing the does around in Franklin county. I saw about 10 bucks today.

My buddy watched a doe being chased yesterday morning. The doe was running down hill toward a creek. It hit the creek and made a sharp turn and ran about 80 yards down the creek trying to lose the buck. He said the buck was so crazed, it blew past the creek and completely missed the doe's scent where it went down the creek. He said it was pretty cool to watch. I've personally never seen a doe use water like that to lose a buck.

I was hunting in Northern VA on Saturday and I saw definite chasing by two different bucks.

First I had a small three pointer came out in a small field I was hunting, ten minutes later two does entered from the opposite side of the field, and the three pointer chased them into the woods. I can hear them running around in the woods and eventually circling back behind me. Five minutes later the three pointer runs out of the woods from behind me, grunts once as he goes by, and then about six does are chased out of the woods behind me into the field by this big seven pointer. He was definitely chasing the does, he followed one in particular right out of the woodline about 15 yards from me and paused just long enough to meet my muzzy broadhead.

Definitely getting interesting out there. I hunted Thur, Fri, Sat, & Mon evening. Saw a boatload of does and some scrubs. Did see two good bucks Friday at midday. Only saw one doe yesterday evening. I couldn'thunt this morning but started getting texts pretty early. These two were killed an hour apart(around 9ish I think) from the same stand in one of the blocks of woods I hunt. Blackpowder kills but I'd say it shows some of the bigger boys are starting to get frisky.

The second pic is just a closer pic of the smaller buck from the 1st photo.
