I just got in from the Va mountain trip I take every year to my brother's farm in the western part of the state.. It's a 1500 acr cattle farm and it has tons of deer and some really good bucks...so another brother of mine and my life long hunting partner and best friend took the trip and drove 4 hrs to stay 4 days...the first night I had a really nice 8 pt come in at 30 yds but he offered no shot...he kept heading towards my brother....so I call him and tell to be ready...20 mins later he calls back and says " i got em!! " this was his 3rd deer with a bow in 2 yrs and his second buck over 100"!!! the deer weighed 220 lbs on the hoof!! that is huge for Va....

Now on to my story....so Friday AM my friend and I decide to sit across from each other on a power line that runs up a ridge where I have taken several deer and a great buck a few yrs ago. we were 90 yds across from each other when this nice 8 pt comes straight out from his side and walks straight to me!! we watch him for 17 mins eat and rub...finally, he steps out and begins to walk closer but fast, so I bleet and he stops dead in his tracks at 30 yds and I drill him....I watch him run 80 yds and bed down...he gets up 5 mins later and walks into a bottom thicket and he's gone....my heart sinks....then I call my buddy and tell him what i saw ....he says to me " don't worry, you put a hell of a hit on him, I got it all on film and even got the arrow coming out the other side!!!"" I was relieved...we get down an hr later and inspect the footage and the arrow and the blood and decided to wait...we waited 3. hrs and took up the trail, we trailed him 135 yds to his final resting place!! I was so relieved and just overwhelmed with joy....he is a nice 8 pt and weighed a 190 lbs....huge deer for Va....I have been waiting all season to see a decent buck and it happened.. I closed the deal!! in all....we took 7 deer between the 3 of us and I now have plenty of meat and six deer this year so far, God is so good to me!! and once again the Rage 2 blade was awesome...clean pass thru at 30 yds....that's the 10th deer with Rage heads and I have yet to NOT get a pass thru on a deer...outside of the 3 spine shots last year...notice the entry hole of the 2 bld Rage , huge hole both sides, just a little low and a little back, hit liver but it did the job...

Thanks gents! I have had a wonderful season! yet, still a long way to go!! I have 2 buck tags left and unlimited doe tags...bow season will last 2 more weeks and gun season starts on the 14th, I will do both during gun season...bow hunt a few places here at home during the week and gun hunt with buddys on Saturdays...I eat the meat weekly and share it with family and friends...everyone benefits :) I was starting to think I wouldn't see a deceddnt buck this yr...as I didn't last year....you just never know what can happen...you HAVE to be in the woods or it will not happen...good luck to all!
