Does anyone here use 5 lone wolf sticks and if so how well do they stack and carry on the alpha stand. Four of them stack good with only an issue from time to time but I need to get higher up Thanks
If you are concerned about locking them down solid, you can buy a lashing for a few dollars and you would be set. I personally only use 4 and an extra plastic step. I do however, use lashing to lock lots of stuff down while hiking around.
You can buy some climbers webbing strap and make extensions on the bottom of your sticks. Buy some tubular webbing strap from REI or Mil Spec off Ebay and you basically tie a stirrup onto the bottom of the stick allowing you to place your sticks farther apart. Doing all 4 will probably get you another 4-8' depending on how you do it. Check out DIY sportsman on you tube or just type in lone wolf climbing stick mods.
i have 5 and they do pack but there is barely enough strap and they do have a little side to side play. it is very do-able though. This is my first year using the lonewolf but so far it hasnt been an issue packing 5
Also make sure you run a cut piece of rope about the width of your boot down inside the tube part of the webbing as it will keep the stirrup open so you can get your boot in climbing in the dark.
You should invest in the stick quiver so you can stack the sticks sideways instead of on top of each other. I carry 5 that way with no issues at all. 2016 Hoyt Defiant 30 Ridge Reaper Easton FMJ 400 125 Gr. Muzzy Trocars Sure-Loc Lethal Weapon Max Trophy Taker Nock Down Pro
Haven't but thinking about it. Four gets me to 20, but the deer still seem to bust me easily. I put the stack of sticks on their side and bungee them down. Adding another wouldn't cause any issues.
Those of you using the Stirrup tied on idea....do you put anything like leather or piece of pvc or something to keep the loop from hanging closed to ensure easy boot entrance in and out of it?
That would be even better quiet and durable...will hold less scent and moisture than the leather thought. I'm going to possibly experiment with this...if I can place the first step just another foot or two higher off the ground that alone would go a long way.

I put a piece of climbing rope inside the tube and it works well. It is pliable and quiet but keeps the loop open enough to get your boot in. A piece of rubber would probably work pretty well too.
Not my pic, but I Googled Lone Wolf sticks with aider. I did something similar when I had mine. I used some hose I had. I am only 5'10" and only got about 18' before, this helped me get to 20'. I only did it on the first stick, I just didn't trust myself on the higher sticks lol.
Also the way I originally learned about this is for my new climber...I was having a hard time with tree taper and getting up to the height I wanted. I was having to put such an incline on the climber that it made it tough to climb onto the platform from the ground. I put one of these strap stirrups hanging from the bottom platform of my climber so I can place it higher above the base of the tree with less incline, and still climb up onto the climber. I find this really helps me get up higher in a climber.
