Hey guys got my first climber this morning - looks to be in real good shape. But I had a questions.
Take note of the photo and the arrows - these straps done seem to be included - what do they do?
Should I make new ones? Not Worry about them? Use two small ratchet straps?
PS Paid $70 bucks - good deal I hope.

Those straps make it more secure. It pulls the arms in and keeps them there. I had them on my ol' man climber. They seemed to help out alot.

Based on the picture, you could easily get a couple rachet straps and do the same thing. I'd go ahead and give that a try, then go ahead and try a couple ratchet straps that go all the way around the tree. If you can get a tight strap at the top of those bracing bars without binding of folding the strap, I think you'd be better off.

If you want to be real secure, do both. Get a couple small straps that will pull the arms in, then get a couple more and wrap all the way around. It might be overkill, but on a tree stand who cares.

My theory is that this is an area where if you can increase the number of points that can bear a load - the better off you are. I especially do this becuase I don't like the covered cable straps on a climber. A little extra something just feels better, more stable, so on.

Thanks guys will most likely do both as davescountry mentioned.
Never hurts to be more secure and a couple extra straps aren't much trouble at all.

You want those straps. Honestly, I'd contact Gorilla and ask them if they are available. Ya never know, they might just send ya a few. I'm sure that they'd rather you be using them.

I have that same climber and I don't ever remember getting those either but have never had any problems with it.

    Thanks!
I am using the straps I use to hold it together while I am hiking to pull those arms in.
    Works like a champ.
    Thanks all.
