I was thinking about buying a bow during the start of the new year that will be 2-3 years old and i was wondering how long is the average life on a bow when it comes to the limbs and cams
obv the limbs and cams stay good for awhile but i was just curious as to the life expectancy if the bow was kept in good condition by the previous owner
Hard to say....I shot my last bow for 8 years and am on my 7th on my current one and it's still just like new...really 2-3 yrs old on a bow is nothing to be concerned about...you may need to replace strings and cables on a bow every few years or so depending on how much you shoot...but limbs/cams should generally last a very long time
Years Of Use I shot my 1st bow that was a Martin for 3 years then I saw what the newer bows could shoot over 60 yards and spent the money and bought a Bear split limb and shot it for 8 years and my buddy still shoots his till this day and he bought his at the same time,so that would be 11 years and counting. So yeah if you take care of your bow like most on here do,it will last you mostly most of your hunting life. Take care of the strings and keep her oiled and you should have a bow for life. Then again those little things you see at the shooting range tend to make you want to tweek what you have and make you feel a little better about yourself. Now just 2 days ago my best friend was trying to figure out how to slow his bow down so that he can start killing big bulls again . He claims that he's missed to many because of the arrow flight of all these speed bows, they fly too flat,he was used to lobbing over the branches and all, LOL ,go figure. Rocky
