Thought you guys may be interested in checking this out and giving your honest opinion. This mount/iPhone app allows you to fix your iPhone 4 or 4s directly to your bow and use it as a sight. And it will record your hunt too! I really like the idea and when I get my iPhone I'm going to check it out and play with it a bit. I doubt I would ever hunt with it - too many unknowns and possibilities for something to go wrong, but I'll certainly shoot some targets with it. http://www.bowhunting.com/blog/post/The-iBowsight-Turn-Your-iPhone-Into-a-Versatile-Bow-Sight.aspx
I have to agree with you on this one JZ. I love my iPhone. I have it mounted to my bow for video. I use it all the time for hunting, scouting, GPS, checking my trail cam photos, live broadcasting from the stand, live updates on BH.com, etc, etc... But I would never use it as a sight. maybe in the off season for fun, but not hunting. I wouldn't want to trust the batteries, or have something go wrong. But puting the "what if's" aside, here is the main reason I would not use it... I killed that doe, and there was still 15 minutes of legal light left in my hunt!
That was my first question about using it. We all know if you had it mounted as a sight the biggest buck of your ife would walk out and you wouldn't be able to se him through the phone. So the app is $100.00 how much is the mount? Can't find that anywhere. Not planning to purchase it just wanted to know how much this set up would run.
Never... Not a fan of bow mounted cameras period, no zoom, missed shots from bow shock etc... I have not seen a bow mounted camera/phone video that's impressed me yet and to rely on a phone for a sight? NEVER. Edit: I am however interested in seeing your target shooting with it Justin...
LMAO, No way.... They are dreaming. I wouldn't pay .99 cent for it without a full working trial. Regardless if it works or not I think they are smoking crack. Couldn't see paying more than $10 for it because to me it's just a novelty at best. That, and I am not sure it is even legal in KS or a lot of other states for that matter.
The Mounting Brackett will Retail at $99.95 to $109.95 For those of you that are curious to see how it is setup in the app and how it works go to Youtube Video http://youtu.be/Mj3zfHvbpfo He will soon have a 3rd video on Youtube to cover more of the fine features soon.
You are correct .. not legal in all states. Crack..... Dorge is a Nuclear Chemist not a Crack Head ... LOL , although we did stay at the Holiday Inn Express at the Mathews Show.
You would loose your mind if you were lining up on a prize buck and you get a call I guess put it on airplane mod but I don't like to depend on one gadget for to many things.
So this set up will be around the $200.00 mark. Yeah, they can definitely keep that. I am sure some will but, I don't see it.
It would be fun to mess around with but I would NEVER use it in the woods.... I like my HHAs to much to replace them with a small hand held computer.
Fools and their money are soon separated. I can think of two people that will buy this just so they can show it off at the range. This is how you get rich off of rich people. People with too much money love overpriced gadgets. How many people are going to buy a jet pack that runs off of water? Not that many, that's why you price it accordingly and still get rich.
I wouldn't pay even a quarter of that for the whole setup, but I do have to say that I'd love to see it work! I'm curious to see how well it would work for someone in an actual hunting scenario! All kidding aside about getting the phone calls and such, if you put the phone on the right mode you won't have to worry about that, but I'd like to see a video of someone shooting it at a target and someone shooting an animal with it! I will say though, it would allow for some extremely finite movement of the sights out at longer distances!! Part of me is curious though, and another part of me is wondering how it would look on my bow though!
I did a better video for those who want to know more about it. The app as promised is on the Apple App store on the 24th December, 2011. Good and better news. After extensive sourcing, I am happy to inform you all that all screws on the AeroRest and iBowSight would be GR2 Titanium. No more rusty screw or shinny silver stainless that added weight. You should see the iBowSight bracket on Firenock Web Store by mid Feb, 2012, Black version first at $99.95 plus shipping (at our web store, the shipping to any where in US is always $5.00 for any size order). THe bracket alone weight in just under 4.0z, and with the iPhone without the lens is about 8 oz. As for the correction lens, I would not like to over promise. Base on current schedule, we should be looking at April/May time frame just to be safe.
