Never have witnessed a reaction to any scent, what you get in the bottle at the sporting goods store is no better that your own pee. Save your money.

I have had good results with Ms. Doe Pee urine. It comes refregerated and is still yellow, not brown and smells totally different than the regular bottled stuff.

Antler Ice also appears to be a good product.

These are the only two urine products I would consider using.

I have had bucks follow a drag line on many occasions using doe pee.

I never use skunk pee and rarely use doe pee but I do use buck urine regularly to help cover my scent!

I use doe pee on bottom of my rubber boots to cover. I use buck pee and doe in estrous starting around halloween or first week in Nov. Depending on rut activity.

I have had great success using rut lures on a drag line and when rattling. For rattling picture a large "V" with you at the base of the V and a scent bomb at each point of the V upwind left and right opf your position.

When the buck comes downwind to scent check the rattling he will turn when he hits one of those two scent bombs and not get downwind of you. you have to be careful with movement and be observant for a sneaky buck.

I agree though that research has shown little to no difference in urine from different species. But these tactic work for me.

Ive always wondered about the refrigerated Scents. Nice to hear that it is actually still "fresh".

Ive put out different scents over the years and never really had anything come into investigate at least while I'm there.

I have had some success with James Valley Scents, Code Blue doe lures, Tink's Power Scrape. I try not to use it heavily because I definitely think the deer catch on if it's used too much.

Be careful with some of the refrigerated scents and also with the colors. Refrigerating deer urine will slow the breaking down of the urine but does not completely stop the process. On the other hand, some of the major manufacturers have caught on to the "yellow" means fresh kick and are actually dying the urine to aid in this. This liquid dye is part of the reason the urine does not smell as "strong" or ammonia like mainly in part because it is no longer 100% deer urine.

Alot of the products you see on the shelves are like you mentioned, a rip off. It is one big marketing scheme but unfortunately one that alot of people are making money off of. Just like Sota mentioned in his post, once the product is exposed to air, light, and heat such as sitting on the shelf for 6-12 months that urine has actually turned acidic meaning the ph levels have rose to a point so high you in return get that burning, awful smell whenever opening the bottle. So even if that urine is of the hottest doe at the time of bottling....1-2 weeks of exposure to air, heat, or light as mentioned and it smells no different than any other deer urine on the shelf.

For anybody that is interested and has a second try and check out our website at www.purebredhuntingproducts.com . We go further into details about the differences and would also love to gather your feedback on our products. :tu:

doesn't a natural scrape, made by the deer, not smell like ammonia ?
12 doe peeing in say a community scrape, possibly multiple times a day all year long, some in 90 degree heat, and it doesn't break down and smell like ammonia as all that pee breaks down ?

must be only when they put it in the bottle that causes that ?

Now do you warm the pee before you use it? If so do you then store it back in the refrigerator??? Just asking cause a friend of mine does this and i just didnt think taking the urine from warm to cold multiple times would be good. Seems like it would break down faster. I used the code blue standing estrous and left it in my backpack to freeze. Would that still be good?

Makes sense. I hunted in the snow and couldnt resist taking a whif of a bloody pile of pee snow a fawn had just made. It had a smooth almost sweet smell to it. Nothing like the bottled scents. I made the best of it and packed it on my boots while i made my way to another stand

I have seen plenty of fresh scrapes and fresh scrapes IMO do not smell like ammonia. On the other hand, lets say you have a "community" scrape that as you mentioned has 12 does urinating in it multiple times a day all year long. The answer to your question is yes, it would have a smell similar to old expired urine. Now do you think that a buck walking by that scrape and walking by a fresh scrape can tell the difference? Absolutely.

So you have a "community" scrape and you have a fresh scrape and lets say its the last week of October and the seeking phase of the rut is kicking in pretty strong. Now lets say you have a doe that is currently in estrous, as a male the buck is spending his time marching through the woods checking for fresh scrapes and scent trails left by hot does of which contain the pheromones released and contained by that doe indicating she is ready to be bred. Now we get to the good part....say you are walking to your stand and you make a scent drag....one smells like you mentioned urine from the community and is what he has been smelling all year and then you make a second drag 20 yards over with fresh urine of which the pheromones are still preserved indicating that the doe is in heat, shes ready to go and that the trail is fresh.

Which path do you think the buck is going to take?

    totally agree with you PureBred,
and have your page saved to place an order soon.

I was just pointing out that the smell of ammonia does indeed take place naturally
and the deer more than likely smell it on a daily basis.

ever-calm deer heard and i have used doe in heat drag lines that have worked however not every time. This year will be a challenge as the state of VA has a ban on the use of urine based deer products so i am experimenting with synthetics and some homemade covers we will see what happens

I've used Tinks #69 as a lure always. I've never has a buck smell it and run off, nor have I had one come running to it. I think the main idea is to get them curious and not smell your human scent. The deer may not think its a doe's pee or whatever, and at least it isn't human scent. I'm actually using fox pee as a cover scent this year. (We have plenty of Fox in the area) My thinking is, any animal in the natural environment, will pee out in the woods. I do not see a buck being scared of a fox. There for I'm choosing to cover my scent with something they may be use to. A man told me years ago, he hunted on land that had cows. He would stomp all in the cow crap and even rub it on his clothes. That's far to extreme for me! LOL Same idea, the cow were always there and the deer were use to the scent. With that being sad, be careful with skunk pee, How many skunks do you see around your hunting area?...... I'd be interested in hearing when the right time would be to use rut pee, buck lure or a scrap pee.

I've spend a ton of time and money trying scent products and haven't see the first result. As Sota said, save your money and use your own pee

I have used deer dander to cover my scent and have had no issues with it. Also tried tinks mock scrape with moderate results.
