Skywalker, I told the young lady I would pay to have it fixed,I didn't have a problem with that and told her I would buy one or two more. When she said no to the repairs it really soured my milk.A friend had the same problem with Garmin,he has a Rhino 120 and one of the rubber buttons come off and they give him the same line...I hate to do it but if mid price cameras are going to be throw aways after a year I'm thinking might as well buy cheaper ones on sale.

Cledus I liked it ok,but not enough to throw away money to them....I have seen it miss pictures too....There are companies out there who still value repeat customers so I'll just do my homework...that's for your replies guys..

Here's my thoughts as ive ran Coverts very heavily for the last 3 years and have had USA's for about a year now.

The battery life is pretty much the same, but the USA Recruit takes better pictures. Especially in the daytime. MUCH better pictures. I think the Coverts have a slightly better sensor at the moment though. Ill be doing heavy video this fall with both the Recruit and the Patriot models (havnt done much yet).

Both companies make GREAT cameras, one is a large industry leader and the other is a small start-up.

As far as the drama...I don't pay attention to it. Some people are going out of there way to slam the company and although they may have valid reasons, its still not right IMO, especially if your not a player in the game. Everything we use comes from China, including all the other trail cameras. I don't see the big deal in naming the company USA Trail Cams.

I was talking about USA Trail Cams, not Moultrie. Just for the record.

Just a small collection of pictures ive got this spring. Ill be putting the cameras hard to work after deer this summer.

**Disclaimer** i still run Coverts, Moultries, Wildgames and Homebrews, i am by no means only a USA guy.

Yeah, I do. I don't think buying them represents throwing money away.

Well here's my update on Moultrie. They responded with the normal caring about customer stuff , informed me some girl named Beth I think was her name would be contacting me.Well she called one time and left a msg.I was working and attempted to contact her with number provided 3 different days couldn't get her and no return call.Goodbye Moultrie!

Sent In m-80 and m-100 to be repaired and they replaced them with $70 models instead. That was about 5 years ago and have never bought another Moultrie product since!

Yeah that's really sad about Moultrie, some of the best cameras I've ever had were moultries. Whoever they have running that company is a fool like few others. The level of that person's stupidity is well worthy of a facepalm or three.

Covey,I was honestly floored with their policy of not fixing anything that wasn't under warranty, it was a design flaw that caused the problem, water and condensation leaks thru the battery door so I figured they would step up but nope.I have been faithful to them over the years going back to their first 35 millimeter cameras and feeders but never again....another company with the quick money philosophy and lacking customer support. Its ok I will do my part by word of mouth for sure.

Yep, I think that crap has caught up with them, I doubt they'll ever amount to much again until or unless they make some serious changes in their company. The first bulk buy of cameras I made was 10 M-880's in 2012 and those cameras are mostly still operating. A couple years ago I bought ten more newer model M-880's and they had redesigned them and were about ten times worse of a camera. Out of focus pics, reliability issues, accessible to ants and just overall a few steps back from the previous model. How the heck does that happen, instead of refining an existing product...it gets worse? It's amazingly sad. It's not as if they were cheapy cameras either.

I had one of the later 880's and the battery compartment allowed moisture in,I repeatedly cleaned the connections but it didn't fix it

Not sure how it got water in it, the battery trays go in from the bottom? Maybe it was leaking around the top somewhere. My later ones weren't terrible but they were a long ways from as good as the older models.

I had a stealthcam last fall that had a battery burst in it and corroded it all up, it just started doing funky stuff. I took it down and replaced it but the other day I got it out and cleaned it up and it seemed to be okay and I put it back out...we'll see what it does.

Moultrie didn't have the M-880 till 2013 I believe. I have several M-80 and M-80xt cameras from 2011 and 2012 that are awesome. Sadly 4-5 years in the woods has two of them on their last legs. Moultrie changed some stuff around on the 2014 M-880 and in my opinion that's when they lost me as a customer. Picture quality went to hell in my opinion and I haven't bought one since then. I use the hell out of my 2014 M-880 because it's bomb proof but I don't put it in my best spots because I want a higher quality picture in those spots.

Dvo maybe it was just mine,I don't know,I could accept that but it was their customer service that finished me.Im pretty patient and understanding but their response,or lack of i should say after I posted something about it on another site they responded with what you would expect them would say in public but they never returned my calls when I called the # they give me
