Whoa now, let's not go that far.

Meyer is on the same level as Kiffen, IMHO.

Just because the man is sick, doesn't mean I have to like him now. I've always despised Meyer for his dirty recruiting antics.

Hooker, do you realize that all the top coaches fight for recruits every year? They all bad mouth each other, call recruits 50 times a week, twitter, video recruit, home visits......it is all part of the game.

We seem to have a thing here in America lately where when someone is succesful in whatever endeavor, that people just start calling them ego maniacs, can't believe they make that much money, can't believe they would spend their money that way, can't believe they don't have perfect seasons every year, can't....it is like people are mad at others and feel things need to be equal for no other reason than a crying game....I don't get it.

Maybe Urban needs to not have an ego..heck, all the great sports athletes over the years have been the most humble guys, always leaving their ego's at the door, not fighting on the court/field/ice rink, and just were guys who did not brag about anything. But that is not the top athlete/coach mentality. They are driven.. Driven to crush their opponents in every aspect. I am done with my rambling.

Yes, I am quite aware of that, but there are also a few coaches who are worse than others. Meyer is one of those coaches.

I just don't like the guy. He is slimey.

I understand your argument if you have some first/second hand knowledge of his recruiting tactics. However, once a program becomes a mega program by winning conference championships/national champhionships, the recruits naturally flock to those programs. The recruiting is made much easier by success/sunshine/women...and that is Florida.

He has turned many recruits off by his tactics, but obviously he is still doing just fine with recruiting.

What kind of things has he done? I honestly haven't ever read much about his dirty recruiting antics, but would definitely love to hear/read about them if you can point me in the right direccction

I'm with Hooker on this one. Classy? I've never heard that word associated with Meyer before. I respect him as a great football coach, but I always thought he was a whiner and came off shady.

Well I used to have a Rivals and Scout account, so I wish I could post some of the recruit interviews/articles, but since I didn't renew them I cannot, but here are just a few I remember:

    - He told Jevan Snead that he was recruiting Tebow as a linebacker. (per the book The Blind Side)

    - He flagged Patrick Peterson ACT score once he committed to LSU to keep him from being able to enroll early.

And there were several shady things about a couple of recruits a couple of years ago, but I've forgotten. I believe it involved a JUCO WR and some DT that was commited to ND.

I don't know, I'm sure you are going to refute all of these, but it won't change my opinion of him. The man just looks slimey to me. And I don't hate him just because Florida has been successful. I don't hate Nick Saban or Pete Carroll.

    Huh?

Meyer flagged Peterson's score after he committed LSU. Peterson decided between LSU and Florida. Peterson commented that he chose LSU partly because Meyer constantly bad mouthed LSU and he didn't like that. So Meyer flagged his ACT score so that Peterson would not be able to enroll early (spring ball) at LSU. It was a very ***** move, IMHO.

So the guy didn't have the scores to enroll early and someone just exposed it?

No, he had the scores. Meyer flagged the scores because he thought they were "suspicious". Funny how he didn't think they were suspicious when he was trying to get Peterson to go to Florida
