I just got home and thought I'd catch what's left of the Emerald Bowl when I see it scroll across the bottom of the screen. I thought I must have read something wrong and then Mel Kiper comes on and clarifies it. I have no idea why he would do this other than just wanting to go out on top.

Who knows, maybe the Redskins offered him Zorn's position.

All I can say is, don't do it Urban (I'm sure he stays on this forum). It'll be a huge mistake.

It's probably a broken heart because of Tebow not being there next year.

JK. Hopefully it's not too serious, he seems like a jam up guy.

Undisclosed health issues. Sportscenter is having a special on him at 4 today with his news conference coming at 4:30.

I read in SI a while back that he's always had brain tumors or tunors (non-cancerous) of somesort somewhere on his head that would cause these massive migraines when he got stressed. And today on ESPN they reported him of having chest pains lately as well. Also, after the SECCG, he was hospitalized for dehydration, but there has been specualtion that it was actually a heart attack.

Either way, I'm completely bummed to see him step down, but we all have to admire his reasons for doing so; aligning his priorities correctly for his Faith and Family.

Guys, another news of Urban Meyer. He's not stepping down, but he's taking indefinite leave. Offensive Coordinator for Gators will take interim.

He loses a ton of players, including his boyfriend, and his DC. So he's gonna let an interim coach step in for him next year and take the heat for a crappy year? What a whiner, oops, I mean winner. Give me a break.

I believe Florida hired themselves another "Ron Zook" by hiring their offensive coordinator, or letting him coach.

Vols roll over the Gators next year :D

Urban has nothing to prove to anyone. He has been a winner everywhere he has been. He has also been a class act. For some reason people are just retarded and want to say something negative about someone just because they have great success. I do not root for Florida but that guy is a winner and represents Florida with class. He has been coaching for 24 years and is exhausted. Many people that dog on him couldn't even run 50 yards without being exhausted and probably call out of work with a headache.

Brett, I hope you did not take my comments as serious, I was only ribbing Florida because that is what I have to do...it is a right of passage for a BAMA fan...now if he was the coach of Tennessee, I would be forced to drag him through the mud...Phillip, you out there buddy:D

As for Urban, he is class...and I think he may micromanage to much listining to Foley, some bodies can hack it and some can't...Joe Pa and Bobby Bowden are the exception to the rule. The Bear retired and then he died, Urban is too young for that.

Michael--oh no man, I did not take them that way at all. I understand what you are saying. I was just talking about a whole lot of talk I am hearing from people about Tebow heading out and Urban leaving. He is a heck of a coach.

I agree. And don't forget what the guy did in Utah. . . it was pretty amazing.
Still, I can't say I'd miss him. His genius has become completely overshadowed by his ego since he landed in the swamp

I don't know if I'd even go that far. Outside of big time SEC followers, I'd imagine your average college football fan has no idea about Meyer's sometimes hubris demeanor. On the other hand, I'd say there are many fans who know his genius (ex. creating an entirely new offense prior to the championship game against OSU).

Don't get me wrong, he is quite the arrogant fellow sometimes :D
