    Hey all,
I am new to the forum and have a quick question about a bow. I have to upgrade this year to a new bow from my diamond edge youth bow. I have grown out of it and need a new one. I am looking into either a Heli-M or a Z7 Xtreme. For those of you who own these bows, what is your feedback? I hunt whitetails primarily from a treestand. But lately I have found that I really like slow hunting so I am looking for a bow suitable for both. I have heard great things about Mathews and i really like the design of both bows. Also what would be your preffered set-up as far as sights, rest, stabilizer be?
    Thanks in advance,
    Cole

I shoot the Heli-M. Its a geat bow. I have the HHA 2" sight, QAD rest and Ktech KB26 and KSB1. If you want I can get you some pictures out so you can see it. My bow is a treestand hunters dream. Its extreamly versitle.

One last question; do you guys preffer mechanical or fixed broadheads? I shot fixed before but they were 85 gr. because of the lighter arrows with the youth set-up but the two bucks I got with it didnt seem like they bled all that much. One was double lung and the other was heart and neither bled very much.

I was in the same boat as you about a week ago. I was undecided between the heli-m and z7x shot them both a whole lot before deciding they both felt really great almost the same to me besides the weight which was about the only major thing i could notice. I decided to go with the heli-m just because re-sale value would be more if i decided to sell it but both are really nice, wish i could of went home with them both! Ive shot my new heli-m everyday so far since the day ive picked it up love it the back wall is nice love the draw cycle and everything else about it. Accessories that i put on my mathews, HHA 5519 sinlge pin sight, Ktech Stabilizer, Mathews T5 quiver, draves archery komfort kiss kisser button, Mathews lost camo sling, and i did have a whisker biscuit on it but then decided to go with the QAD HDX drop away rest the other day i just didnt like the whisker biscuit on it like i did on my previous bows.
I hope this helps and you cant go wrong with either bow there both really nice

I think I am leaning towards the heli-m. Because I am going top of the line for the bow I want to keep it top of the line for the accessories as well. I for sights I like the looks of the HHA. But what product do you guys like. It will probably be set up with two maybe three pins max. (15,25,30 yards) as for a quiver I have a kwikee quiver and will probably just stick with that. For an arrow rest I had been using a two prong rest. What do you guys prefer, whisker biscuit, or drop away?

I could ask the same question. I started out with a Diamond Black Ice and love it, but i want a new bow. I looked at Mathews and Hoyt but i cant decide between the two... What do you suggest? I also am looking for a better rest but i cant decide either. I have the beginning whisker biscuit but i wanna get a drop away... best drop away? Thanks.

I would suggest you guys look at Elite Archery. The Hunter is a great bow.

My daughter and I both use drop-away rests, I use a TT Pronghorn and she uses the Ripcord Code Red. I prefer hers over mine as it can be locked in the up position with full arrow retention. I've tried the Limb Driver but I think it stays up too long during the shot cycle.

As for sights, I use a Spot Hogg and love it. My daughter uses a Truglo Xtreme. The nice thing about it is that it has a removable 5th pin so you can use just 4 until your draw weight gets high enough to add the 5th. The main thing to keep in mind, in my opinion, is the pin diameter and how clean it is on the viewing end. For closer shots, under 30 yards, you can use .029 pins without a problem, but at longer distances this size pin can block out your target. Also, some site manufacturers smash or flatten the end of the fiber for retention and this also makes the pin excessively large.

My daughter and I both just went to the B-Stinger Sport Hunter Xtreme stabilizer. We have both noticed improvement over our previous stabilizers: Doinker for me and Fuse for her.

    Good shooting.

Hey Cole, welcome to the site. Try shooting both. I have the z7x. The heli'm was not out yet. If they shoot the same to you, I'd go with the heli'm for 2 reasons.
    1. Better back wall. The z7x likes to creep. That's my opinion obviously. However, I've shot many bows and my z7x is the smoothest pull I've felt yet. I shot my buddy's 70 lb dual cam and when compared to my z7x, it felt like I was trying to pull an 85 lb bow back. I was amazed.
    2. ATA. The heli'm has a 30 inch ATA. The z7x has a 28". Pope and young rules require a 30" or higher to qualify. Just something to think about.

I do love that series of bow. I can change anything on it and know exactly how it is going to react before I make the adjustment.

You'll want to go with a drop away for sure. I have the ripcord code red and it has been absolutely bulletproof. My sight, I have a G5 rock sight. For the price it's a great deal. I'm extremely happy with both of those.
The stabilizer (basically a weight) is the axion 2". I wanted just a bit of weight so it wasn't quite as top heavy.

The bow shoots awesome. If the arrow doesn't hit center X on every shot out to my last pin, I know it's my fault.

when looking at accessories i like to make sure it has warranty and a huge thing to me is if its made in the USA or not if i even find two things that may be some what the same and one of them is made in china and is cheaper ill actually spend the extra money on the other item if it made in the USA so those are two major things when looking at accessories for me 1.USA 2.Warranty just thought i would share that with you if it helps you any when deciding on accessories

I guess I am the only one so far that has both bows but I don’t know if I am going to be much help. I bought the Z7Xtreme and then later when the Helim came out I bought one. I can’t tell you much about the draw since the Z7 is set on 70# and the HeliM is a 60# bow. I couldn’t pull the 70# when I first bought the Z7 and had to work up to it ( I am 65 years old ). I practice with the Z7 but plan to hunt with the 60# Helilm. The reason is in a tree stand when it is very cold I am not sure if I could pull the 70# and don’t want to find out the hard way. I may change my mind as the season progresses and I see what effect the cold has on my old worn out muscles. I could turn the Z7 down but since I have the two bows I plan to leave one on 70 and the other on 60.
Now the reason I don’t think I will be much help is that I have never been able to decide which one I like the best. It has already been mentioned that the HeliM has a stop but the Z7X has such a solid back wall that it feels like it has a stop also. Both bows seem to have a narrow valley but that can be a plus because it keeps you from creeping. The narrow valley is something I think all single cam bows have.
The Helim is a little lighter but I think people are placing too much emphasis on weight. How many people grab a bow and then march 5 miles with it. As for me, I am not going any farther than I think I could drag a deer, so the bow weight is no problem.
Now, if someone were to take both my bows and tell me I could only have one back, I really don’t know which one I would reach for. As for the resale, I like both of mine so much I would never think about selling one of them … unless I ran out of something to eat.

It doesnt have to be made in the USA im just big on getting stuff made in the USA to support are country and to do what i can to help the company in anyway by purchasing there products to keep them here in the USA and keep work for the ladies and men i just try to do what i can. I guess you could call it Job Security for those companys. Also ive had better luck with american made products than other brands that are not american made, not saying that american made stuff doesnt break because ive had problems with american made products but less likely it seems for me with american made than with china etc. Hope that made enough sense!
