Well, I ended up going yesterday morning, got to the stand at about 6:20am. I climbed in, quietly screwed my bow hanger in, and it was waiting time.

Sat and watched the stars disappear as nature was waking up. Once the sun started showing itself, I spotted a small deer about 60 yards away passing through some cedars, just caught the tail end of the deer pass as I was scanning. About another hour went by, my heart pounded a few times, as "squirrel Deer" were moving up a trail. Shortly after that I watched a few raccoons scurry there way from bush to bush until they were directly under my stand.

After the raccoons, it was pretty dead, the temps started rising fast, and a nice cool 52 degree morning turned into 80 and sunny. To pass the time, I practiced slowly grabbing my bow, standing up, drawing, you know going through the motions.

That leaves me nervous for future hunts, I guess others make it look easy, at one point, I dropped my glasses from the stand after pulling them off to clean the fog off, while grabbing my bow, I hit some limbs above me, those are now broke off to avoid future mishaps. It is going to take a lot of practice, but I had a heck of a time.

Hang in there and enjoy don't put to much pressure on yourself. Mistakes happen we just have to learn from them.

Im not worrying too much, first time in a tree stand, I just know that this takes a lot of skill, that will take a lot of practice.

I hunt public land, and the spot I walk to is about a 15 minute walk normally, through some very thick patches of thorn bushes...

Atleast it was when I hung the trail camera and set the stand,

I showed up Sunday morning for the first actual hunt, someone at wildlife and parks mowed down all the thorns for the first 300 yards or so, my new walk to the stand is about 5 minutes...I would buy whoever mowed that area a case of beer I was so happy
