Well, as everyone guessed...it's not an NC deer - as claimed, although not proven, Joey Thompson is the first to speak. I hope they shut this kid down (the shooter of the buck.) Waiting on official reports from the NCWRC.

That's because it was hauled in via truck, lol. Either that official scorer is dense or he knew as well as we did that this story was BS. He's probbaly the one that called in the DNR, lol.

If I'm understanding the article correctly, the kid shot a 3 point buck with rifle...then proceeded to attach the massive PA rack to the 3 point body with screws and claim it as the new NC state record bow kill?

if only these people could use their powers for good instead of stupid...

So the scorer didn't notice the screws in the skull plate? Yeah that makes tons of sense.

I agree, if you can't tell a screwed together skull plate maybe you shouldn't be scoring deer.:busted: Maybe scorer had something to gain.

now here is my question. where the heck in PA did he shoot something like that? he still had to have been on a penned farm. we do not have deer like that in the wild in PA. if so one in 10 million. remember he had several 150's around him as well. just don't happen in this state. There are 150's for sure but not bachelor groups with bucks like that running all together in the wild. That buck would have been a record in PA if it were wild. these antlers probably are replicas and aren't even real!!!!! I'm just glad that they keep putting his face with the stories so every one can pick on him for a while.

Wow, I wasn't far off bringing Rompola up

To give the scorer credit, the skull cap was probably real with the antlers. The kid screwed the plate to the top of the rifle killed buck and put a Trump hairpiece over it for the zero shots.

It amazes me how people think they can get away with something like this. Heck even legitimate records are plagued by poached/deer farm rumors.

I don't know why these morons think they will get away with this stuff. Giant white rack on a tiny little buck, yeah, nobody's going to question that.

I'm assuming the kid removed the skull plate from the deer before he took it to the scorer.

How in the world do you wake up in the morning and come up with that idea?
That is one scorer that I'd recommend to all my friends.
P.S. Don't pay any attention to the screws or the extra deer hide on the antlers............................

    REALLY!!!!!!!!!!!

This guy is a disgrace to all hunters. He should should lose his hunting "privileges" for several years, if not for life. As hunters we are already faced with enough scrutiny without jokers like this.

This story does not make sense at all. I still don't think we have the real information yet. I don't care if it was shot in NC, PA or any other state, it still looks like a pen deer. There will be free range bucks shot with antlers that look similar but wont have that pale white color from a number of states this year so it isn't the rack that brings question it is the color like many have said before. There is no way you could screw those antlers on a skull plate even with the little bit of hide on top and not know if you were an official scorer. Hopefully the truth comes out soon so we know what happened.

What if it were sheds Tom, do you think that could explain the color?

Correct me if I'm wrong anyone...but if the deer was killed legally in PA, why transfer the antlers to a NC deer that should still be a damn good pa buck.

    I say sheds still.

Another stupid action by somebody trying to get famous with antlers, does this mean we will never know what miracle mineral was being used?
