This is essentially a pointless (well mostly) poll to feel everyone out on this. I know the demographic most members of this board represent, so I'm already pretty certain where the answers will come in, but I'm curious.

1.What is the current square footage of your home (if you don't want to disclose, no hard feelings)?

    2. In a "perfect" scenario, but what is the MOST square footage you would want in a home, yes this includes unfinished/partially finished man caves, archery workshops, trophy rooms, etc.:D Not just the wife's areas.

My wife and I purchased our "starter" home this past spring. We are sitting at approximately 1400sq/ft with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. It's nothing huge but we got a smoking deal on the house and it's basically brand new. In the next 5-10 years we will upgrade.

If I had my dithers I would prefer something in the 2300-2500sq/ft range with some land.

1408 square feet finished and 1400 square feet presently somewhere between unfinished and finished.

Ideal size is what we have (as far as the house is concerned).

Home is 2100, we have a detached mother in law suite that's 1000 sq ft that's finished with a full bath. Ideally 2500-3000 sq ft for our family of 4. I wished we had a basement for the girls to hang out with their friends sleepovers etc. They generally end up in the man cave which is a 17 x 17 room.

    1. We have 3300 sq ft. It's a 2 story with a finished basement.
    2. When the kids are gone I will downsize, maybe 6 or 7 years. Would like 1700 sq ft with a basement.

My house is 4 Bedroom, 3 Bathrooms, a finished basement. It's a total Sq. Footage of 2500. Then we have a two car attached garage. It sits on 101 acres. I would like a smaller home with more land sometime.

We have a 26x36 colonial with a room in the basement for about 2300 sq ft. Our house size is fine for the 4 of us. I do wish we had finished above the garage.

We have 2500 sq ft. I wish we could have basements down here.

Our house is big enough that if we wanted, we could stay here for our entire lives. That is unless we had more than the 2 planned children. Then I would probably want to bump up to 3000 sq ft.

Mine is 2900 SQ/FT not including the 1/2 finished basement.

When I semi-retire I'm want to by a resort with 5 to 10 cabins in Colorado for weekly rentals

I think we have about 1850, plus a 400 sq ft finished garage. Just a two bedroom, so every room is huge. I designed and built it, so I'd say it was my ideal size. We had already decided that we were only having one child.

The house is just fine as far as size goes, but I have intention on building a large outbuilding next to the house to serve as a garage, storage and workshop. Also hope to have a batting cage inside there for my daughter.

Mine is 1700 sf. If I can't sell this house, I'll eventually rebuild a smaller house when the kids are gone.

1300 sq ft story and 3/4 barn style home. Built in 1910. Original wood work and flooring.

Max I would want is probably 2500 sq ft.

    1. 4400, but the front 1470 is the Lodge, so that is common space with guests in the summer (check-in desk etc).
    2. 1700-2300 range if I were to build, maybe smaller (35x35ish with half loft). But I'd have a big poleshed :tu:

Our new place in IL is about 1800 sq/ft. It has plenty of room for everything we would ever need and I couldn't imagine needing more unless we had more than two kids. It also has a 28x32 garage and a full basement downstairs so we have tons of storage room.

3,421 square feet including the mostly finished basement. It's been nice for raising a family but is probably too much when they are gone. Some day I would like to build a new home but really have not put a lot of thought into what size.

IF you had the possibility of purchasing a great location and piece of ground 15+ acres (360 degree views...literally on top of a mountain) with the possibility of 100+ more acres bordering to hunt, but you had to buy a larger than desired house, would you do it?
