Anyone kill anything last weekend? Spent a few days at dans camp over the weekend, and just got to my place late last night. Dan, my bud Tony and I are all here for a few days. I saw bucks every day so far including a handful of "shooters", just nothing close in the big woods at Dans. Sitting in the nanny whacker now, looking at a big rub and waiting for Rob. 5 minutes ago while typing this a redtail swooped in and grabbed a tree rat, just 10 yards from me. ;-) I got up too late this morning to sit in my honeyhole stand, waiting to do an all day sit there tomorrow when the temps drop.
My desire to bowhunt took a hit I stayed home this morning and slept in ... gonna be in a tree at 1pm till dark today .... back to work tonight.... wont be back out until Saturday ...one week from then, GUN SEASON! I think I finally got to the point of being able to control myself and do "my job" ...since then, I haven't had a deer in range ... so to answer your question, Matt.. no ...
I finally got a doe Saturday evening. I saw a few bucks. I feel a lot better after putting some meat in the freezer. The pressure is off and more deer are moving. Time for a mature buck.
Cool about seeing the hawk grab his next meal right in front of you. I was watching a Great Horned Owl last year watch the same food plot I was; I was just praying I'd get to see him swoop down and grab something!
Thanks guys, rob passed another one last night, and dan saw some chasing. This morning I had deer getting ready to cross the creek, and a pair of yotes came in right under me, busting the deer up. I shot (at) one of the dogs at 22 yards with his head in a scrape. Not sure if I got him yet, going to stay put for the day and will check it out after dark. Anyone else in the woods today?
Surely you got him at 22 yards?!? Unless you hit a twig or something, I'm thinking dead yote.... you gonna get him mounted? You get my text about being on my conference call while on stand? Knew you'd like that...
That's cool (I think...:D) about the yote. Hopefully you got him. I really wish I was in a tree now and not at work.
