...and hopefully not a sign of season ahead. Last night, I made probably one of the stupidest mistakes I have ever made in the woods.

Me and my camera man arrived to my farm a little late, and we were both anxious to get in the woods. We finally got everything together, grabbed the bait, jumped in the ranger and headed to the bear woods. Upon entering the woods, we saw the bait, DEMOLISHED. Yes. After sitting for about an hour, we saw two grey foxes coming toward the stand. They must have spotted one of us move and one started BARKING, I mean REALLY loud. I have always wanted to kill a fox, now seemed like a good time.

I drew back my bow in the enclosed stand, Will (my camera man) checked the yardage..."20 yards" he said...I let go and THWACK.

That THWACK happened to be the limb of my bow hitting the top of the box stand we were hunting in. Took the strings right of the cams. As far as I can tell that's all that happened. I'm headed to the pro shop now. I'm lucky I didn't get hurt.

We did get some good footage of the Fox barking, and my shot....I missed the fox by about 1/2", which surprised me?!

Hopefully not a sign of the season ahead!!

Hopefully any damage is minor and you'll back to hunting soon.

Yea glad you didn't get hurt, sounds like you have a tough bow. Let us know how it turns out after the archery shop.

Are you sure it's fox season? Maybe your 'bad luck' saved you from a ticket. ;)

    10/24/09 - 03/15/10

Fox - Gray and Red Fox season

My bad luck did save me from a ticket, thanks for pointing that out, Christine...I need to read the regs a little (way closer)! An honest mistake that could have cost me a lot in the end :S

You got lucky... gotta read the regs! It's way to early to kill fox, there is really no worth in the pelts this time of year so no real need to kill em! Coyotes on the other hand, that a different story! :D
