I know this is an old thread but saw this tonight and had to share it... I’ve never heard of this before. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I've heard of it and know people who claim it, my fear is I can't find any that a dog hasn't urinated on I prefer the real thing anyway. Cooked up the 13 I've found thus far earlier.
I don’t think we even have morels here in central MN. I might have to try the dandelion thing just to see. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I found some small grey one's yesterday, but I left them to grow a bit. This cold weather ain't helping them grow though. It was about 30 degrees this morning here and the wind yesterday was insane. I feel bad griping about the wind. My heart goes out to those in the Southeast.
My spots are still under a foot and a half of snow. Brain mushrooms should be good this year though, and should start coming up within the next couple of weeks at our place. Others are already finding morels at lower elevations here, but my place is at 4400' so it will be May for morels there. Can't wait.
Buddy just found pretty good batch yesterday. Kinda surprised with weather been having. Been cold and wet lately. Might go check some spots this weekend. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Found few grey ones today in the few spots I checked. Guessing this weekend and next weekend will start finding more. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
I found some brains this weekend and exactly 9 morel in my "early" spot. The morel were probably 2"-3" inches tall. It is usually another two weeks after I find them in my early spot that they come on strong all over (picture me rubbing my hands together).
Found a total of 8 yesterday. Think its still bit early for my spots too. They were all spread out. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Alright guys, I need some help from the experts. I've never looked for morels, let alone found one. So the other day I was down by the creek and found these. Are these them? Or are they some type of other mushroom? Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
Nice! Thanks! Another question, do they get bigger if I let them grow? Or is it best to just pick them as you find them? These are in my back yard, so there not going anywhere. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
They will grow, yes. Not always, but they do. When in doubt slice them in half. They should be hollow and the cap connected to the stem. There are false morels out there., but those appear to be true morels. Same spot can have several flushes theough the season and that spot could produce year after year.
