I lost a job, about a year ago, I instantly started looking for jobs, got one after about two weeks at mcdonalds, and then I started working doing lawns, while going to school. There are PLENTY of jobs out there to be had, some people just think that they are above them, and think, why should I work, when I can make just as much collecting unemployment. Sure I think that some families need it for that short amount of time to get back on their feet, but I don't think that it needs extensions like this. I pay all my bills on a crap $16,450 a year job, includes me, my wife, two cars, a house that we rent, and all the utilities, including food, electric, car insurance and water. It can be done for a whole lot less then people think, they just have to be smart about it. I feel no sympathy for people who use the excuse that they can't find a job. Even though we are still in a "recession", there are plenty of jobs out there. It might not be jobs that you will like, but they are there.

Like I said you have to put yourself in their shoes, do I agree some are taking advantage of the system, yes for sure.

If you have a house payment, kids to feed, car payment and unemployment is keeping you above water and a job at Walmart will put you under, what would you do?

Age plays a factor also, if you are over 50 and lost your job good luck. I have a few friends who have searched their butts off and took almost two years to gound an entry level job.
