All this talk on here about base layers and to me the most popular or best one i hear is under armour. My question now is i want to either purchase the 2.0 or 3.0 base layer I'm not sure which is better ....and what store sells under armour? i would like to try these on before i buy them.

You can find similar base layers for half the price of UA. The deer won't know the difference. :)

I'm not sure the difference, look them up online, bet it's a weight difference.

Any more, all retailers have UA. All your bass pros, gander mountains, cabelas... even farm stores like rural king have them.

Personally I've tried brands that aren't UA and they do not work as well (or last as long), especially with the Cold Gear. I have the 3.0 base layers. You can find them at all kinds of stores like ****'s Sporting Goods, Bass Pro Shops, etc.

I can't comment on other brands, but I can say that the UA Coldgear set I have is 5 years old now and still looks and works like the day I bought them. Great stuff.

i've had all kinds and dont really think you need to spend a bunch of $$$ on any certain brand.... for me it just comes down to the fact i dont get cold easy so pretty much anything works.

The difference in base layers is a 3 tier system. Base layer 1.0 is to wear closest to your skin. It is often called "second skin". Its main purpose is to keep air circulating close to your body, keep heat in and moisture out. Base layers 2 and 3 are to wear over 1 but under your outerwear. They fit a little looser and are meant to be layered. I have the cold gear base layer 1 for upper and lower body and its amazing. Hope the info is useful. I am from Baltimore (UA's home operation) and am very familiar with their brands.

I use UA and it works great. I use Heatgear and Coldgear for hunting and football. They sell it at McSportingGoods if you have one.

I use ALOT of UA and love the stuff.

I've tried other brands of compression gear and it didn't seem to work as well.

If you can afford to, I'd suggest not only investing in their base layers, but also investing in their other hunting gear. I just purchased a few full sets of the clothing. It's really warm, there's no bulk, it's super quiet, and won't fade.

The 3.0 cold layer is awesome. I have 3 sets for hunting and a couple sets for my uniform. You could go with another brand that's less exspensive but they don't hold up to long.

Like what was stated above, it's a combination of weight and material makeup. 1.0 is tighter fitting, 2.0 is snug, but not true compression, and 3.0 is a looser fit. Each successive number equates to a heavier garment with more insulating properties. (1.0 for a true base layer and early season hunts, 2.0 for later in the season, 3.0 for really cold days in the field, etc).

They don't make it for tall people either.

Cant go wrong with anything Under Armour makes for hunting. Most of my hunting clothes are U.A. and thety are worth every penny. I dont have any problem with their sizing and im 6'3", XL coats and hoodies fits great
