UA is a marketing machine. The reason it is so expensive is they know people will pay for it. I'll admit, I do like their warm weather and workout line, but the cold weather line is so over rated and way to expensive. As mentioned above, merino wool is the way to go!

Yeah living in the Maryland area (the guys who started UA went to Maryland) so they are huge around these parts, and everywhere too.

I mean you turn on The Outdoor Channel, Pursuit Channel etc and they are huge there as well....

I personally don't own anything UA and probably never will, I have always thought they were to expensive and I feel I can find the same things that do the exact thing cheaper.... For instance their boots... Wow, you can get LaCrosse boots cheaper

Hunting is already expensive, why pay more then I have too is my opinion for me

I have a lot of Under Armour stuff. I like it. It's not for everybody. I buy it on sale and really don't pay anymore than any other big brand. It is all expensive now days. I paid less for my boots than any other brand, including store brand. You just have to watch the sales.

Having said that, I do think I might pick up some Merino wool base layers this winter to try for when it gets really cold. I used to wear regular military wool layers and loved the warmth, but it was too itchy.

    Merino wool.

When you sweat in UA, you will begin to feel clammy. Merino wool will keep you feeling warm even when it's damp.

most things are better than a standard pair of cotton long jobs, but there are plenty of options that provide the same technical fabric as UA at a fraction of the cost.

Its no secret that UA is expensive and so many guys wear it as a supposed "badge of honor" to think they are cool. Just love seeing overweight guys in all UA gear (hat, shirt, shoes, shorts, socks) like they are some kinda athelete.

I have $120 base set from UA and gotta say it doesnt keep me any warmer than my $30 set from Walmart I think the brand from Walmart is Rocky. I also have a pair of Yukon Gear bottoms from Farm and Fleet I think I paid about $25 for that are really nice

I love my UA Hunt outerwear and have some of their warm weather stuff for mountain biking; and all that stuff is great. But their base layers are nothing special. I also have the farm and fleet base layers (get 'em on sale for about $10-20 depending on weight) which work just fine.

Out of all my base layers tho, my ScentBlockers are the warmest. Not cheap, tho. I got a set on clearance at Gander for I think $50 2 seasons ago.

I had that Rocky stuff and it no way compares to cold gear UA. Most people have had regular UA and think it's all like that. The UA 2.0 I have is night and day different than the Rocky stuff I have. The higher number the heavier it is.

But wear what you like. It doesn't matter to me and I don't see why it matters to others what I wear.

I do not wear UA because it's a badge of honor or I think it makes me cool. I wear it because I like it. As soon as I find something I like better I will switch in an instant. Like I said I have used regular wool base layers and I hate it, but I will be trying Merino sometime before next season.

I dont hunt without it. I like to dress as light as possible.

I wear the 4.0 when it is say 40 or below and I wear the original UA anything above that.

I am not going to pay $50 for a camouflage base layer when the deer can't even see what I am wearing underneath my clothes. I would wear pink and purple, or even rainbow color base layers if they were cheap.

I never wear under armor. The smell is awful. Merino is the only way to go.

I have U.A and I have some of their first stuff from when I was in the Army. It is ok, but way to much money. If I want to stay warm and comfy in the stand my base layer is the Cabela's Stand hunter top and bottoms with my Scent-Lok full season top and bottom. Super light weight and super warm and very light. I feel like i can move like a Ninja but I stay warm like a polar bear lol.

i use my Under Armour gear for warm waether hunts and First lite merino wool on cooler to cold days. i spend the money on camo top base layers in case i get warm i cant remove my jacket or hoody and hunt in my base layer until i cool off.

If hunting from a stand, and the walk in is relatively short, I like my UA base layers.

If you work up a sweat with it though, it doesn't take much to make it stink. I'm making the switch to merino next year to see how it compares.

Like I said even though I currently use a lot of UA, I did start using Cabela's ECWCS polar over my 2.0 UA but I am always looking for something better as I get cold easy.

Has anybody tried Gatorskins? They are popular with the off-road motorcycling crowd. I am curious how they would work in a hunting situation. I'll probably just try some Merino but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask.
