That's kind of why I became a lone wolf bowhunter. I can think of maybe 8-10 guys across the country that I'll talk whitetail bowhunting with. They're people that I know are as hardcore as I am, have the same management goals as I do, and I really enjoy talking deer and learning from them and bouncing ideas off them. Other than that I don't invite people to hunt with me, I limit my conversations with other "hunters" until I feel out what they're all about.

I'm with Jeff on this one. I'm pretty much a solo hunter. I can't even handle hunting with some of my best friends because I feel like I always have to pander to their needs/wants. When I want to hunt, I want to hunt my with without compromise. I suppose that could be considered selfish, but I have "group" hunted and I always seemed to get the shaft and was never overly successful that way. I've learned a lot from some of those people in the past, but I feel like I've moved passed that and find that I learn more by experiencing and doing things myself and my way.

I too hunt solo, small piece of land and I hunt for the solitude. I have a few guys at work who profess to be big time hunters, I just smile and nod.
