Corrupt SD card most likely. I had the issue on one. Tried a different and brand new card.... problem solved.

Would formatting the SD card help the issue?

Always format the cards just to be safe when putting new ones out...but I still every now and then have issues. Card is the first thing I change (brand and sometimes go to a smaller size GB to test it).

We get those sometimes. Make sure there is no moisture on the contacts or dirt on the contacts.

Well I do format the cards every time I check the pics ! And the card has been working for a long time and never did this before ! I will try a few things out! I'm sure it's not a major issue !

I have this problem on one Bushnel that I own. Only happens when the temperature drop below zero and stays there for a day or two. As soon as it warms back up the problem is gone.

Sounds like everyone says its the card ! i did put a new card in when i checked it will see if that helps out the situation !! but I will be putting in new batterys to!! they have been in since early spring and still going strong! It could easily be the batterys are just not liking these cold tempatures !

Honestly when you get close to zero any camera may experience issues, but yeah doing what you're doing will eliminate other options first for sure. If stays the same once temps raise some...then give Pat a call :)

Can someone explain to me what they mean when they say that he would need to "format the card."

Does this mean plugging the card into your computer, right clicking the card and hitting format? Does it mean putting the card in the camera first?

I dont think I formatted my card when I got my first trail cam and I have never had an issue - Would like to know for future reference.

Formatting the card is done differently from one camera to the next. Typically in your settings there is an option to format. Insert SD into camera > settings > format > yes / ok. Again this process is dependant on the manufacturer and model they all very. Consult your owners manual

    Ah yes.

Now I remember having to do that when I first opened it. Thanks for clarifying!

i vote cold weather and a iffy Sd card. My mp6black did this on a -30 degree day. (not including windchills). First few pictures were little goofy, once the cam warmed up it was rocking away the pictures.

Isn't formatting basically deleting the pics?

Yes it will clear the card but it also "formats" the card for the particular device. This is most important with a brand new card but also say maybe a card used between multiple devices as I sometimes do. Without formatting it may or may not work. Example going from my video camera to a trail camera....

My guess would be a card problem.
